Alright. Let me step back by saying that Wiggins, as good as he is, is not a center piece player on a championship contender team yet.
I say they just close that franchise down No team will ever win with carmelo Anthony on the roster. Fantastic bball player if we were on the blacktop but what I call a true cancer for the team. I've never seen a player guarded by 3 people and instead of pass hell air ball a 3
We had to decline Parsons' option as part of our obligation to Dwight's agent for having Dwight sign here. It was not our choice to take that risk. And letting him walk let us replace him with Ariza on a cheaper contract. We wouldn't trade Dwight for nothing, we would be trading him for a top pick in the draft and cap space. I wouldn't totally be against it, depending on the pick and Dwight's performance in the playoffs.
Say Brewer declines his option We don't pick up K-Paps option D-Mo, Johnson, Capela, J. Lamb to Knicks. Pels pick/Knicks pick/Rockets 2nd rounders, McDaniels, Ariza to OKC. Durant to Houston. We fill out roster by bringing in vets. Bev/Prig/? Harden/bring back Jet? Durant/bring back Brewer?/? Jones/Smith?/? Dwight/?/?
Of course the Knicks want to trade their pick. It's the Knicks. Watch them trade #1 overall for Brook Lopez and Deron Williams or some other idiotic package. Sounds crazy, but with Dolan anything is possible.
I can understand the concern about having to wait on a young prospect to mature but one should consider the potential prospect of wasting Harden's years by hanging onto an aging, injury-prone player sucking up cap space. Waiting nad hoping Howard is going to return to all-star form is Yao/McGrady part II. My concern is that Harden leaves when his contract is up if he doesn't feel Morey is surrounding him with the right pieces.
Tim Duncan won the championship his first year didn't he? Jahlil Okafor reminds me of Tim Duncan. 7ft tall. Humble and hard-working. All-time great feet. A good head on his shoulders. Keeps a clean nose. I would trade Dwight for the NYK pick but only if it were #1, to select Jahlil Okafor. Call me a true believer.
I highly doubt Phil Jackson is going to mortgage the Knicks future by trading away their pick. That goes against everything Phil has been doing since he came on board. This will be the first top pick the Knicks have had since forever. Of course if a ridiculously good deal comes around, you never know.
Trade Dmo, Pels pick, Papa for Knicks pick Draft D'Angelo Russell. PG: Russell SG: Harden SF: Ariza PF: Jones C: Howard
Imagine if the knicks never traded for melo' they would have wilson chandler, mozgov, lin, gallonari, etc
I think this is essentially the only scenario the Rockets might trade Howard and only if they thought they had the inside track on a Love or Aldridge. I want to win now, but I think this kind of scenario is very appealing because it makes are championship window absolutely enormous if you hit the #1/2 pick and have Harden, Love/Aldridge, DMo, Jones, Brewer, Pels pick, Ariza, Capela, Knicks 2nd and still have tons of cap room for 2016. And what if the Rockets believe in DMo as a starting 5 and really like Mudiay or Russell? Would they trade Howard for as low as the #3 straight up and take one of them? Retain Brewer and McDaniels, while signing Love. You get: PG: Russell/Mudiay & Beverly SG: Harden (McDaniels) SF: Ariza (Brewer) PF: Love (Jones) C: DMo (Capela, Dorsey) Plus, you'd still have the Pels pick and Knicks pick. Then still have $20M+ in 2016.
Games like tonight's are very telling as to why you can't trade Howard away. DMo and Jones, let alone Love, won't be enough to match up with some Western conference teams with true bigs, for example Grizzlies, Blazers, Warriors, and maybe OKC too.
