Of course it would, but the Knicks wouldn't make that one, the Rockets would. What's the status with McDyess' contract? Is he an FA? Will they re-sign him? Will anyone re-sign him? What if his stock is really low, and he has to play for a small contract? Would we consider him? How about Cato and MoT for McDyess, Doleac and Nailon?
Would anyone be calling Layden an idiot if Antonio McDyess had not gotten injured? Was CD an idiot last year when Steve and MoT were injured and we went 28-54? Come on guys, the Knicks beat us 2 times this year..and what are we gonna use as an excuse? DD
Yes, I think so. Antonio McDyess is a great player, but adding him on will still not take the Knicks past the Eastern Conference finals. The Knicks seriously needs to rebuild with young players, not a injury-weary player like McDyess. McDyess was just a quick fix to stabilize MSG attendance. Stupid mistake. NY should've gone into rebuilding mode, they could've kept Hilario or drafted Stoudemire or gambled with Butler.
DD, After a player had a season-long injury, it usually signals that he is a damaged good. (It's like buying a car that has gone through a wreck.) Very few athletes have come back from serious injury and play at the same level before they were hurt. Getting McDyess was not a good move.
How about this one A-Train... Will you give me 100 one dollar bills for 100 pennies? Is that worth a post?
It seems that Othella was only part of a package that Layden was offering. I'd like to know who else was part of the offer, but I can't think of many combinations I'd accept if it meant giving up Eddie and getting Othella.
I think Layden gets a hard-wrap. He did well in Utah. In NY, the situation was impossible when he came. He did give out a couple of bad contracts, but I still think the McDyess trade was a great deal. It didn't pay off this year... but it's very possible that they'll have the best PF in the East next year.
