i like fernandez, but he's not that good. he had his chance to show what he could do as a starter last season with roy out and he was nothing special. he's a nice role player, but thats it. i hope the blazers make this trade even though it would make them much better. chandler is very underrated. this trade would hurt the knicks which is always good
Well from NY's perspective, getting rid of Jeffries was the #1 priority. They were very proud of accomplishing that (for some reason).
For a 1st round pick I think it's little bit stiff, and can you imagine Rudy doing the same thing to us like he is doing to Portland, what if he doesn't like his role here..??
The Knicks have made the offer of Wilson Chandler for Fernandez but Rich Cho, the new GM of Portland denied the trade I believe. That would be a great trade for Portland to land Chandler for Rudy because Rudy isn't coming back to the Trailblazer anyway. Chandler I believe is an upgrade over Rudy too. But Cho turned it down I think. Anyway, what made me laugh at this is that Cho stated that he want the Blazers to be the best run organization in the history of Pro Sports and he just turned down a great offer.
The Stepien rule is only forward-looking. Now that the 2010 draft is in the past, it is no longer relevant. The Knicks must keep their 2011 pick because they don't currently have a 2012 pick.
I don't recall Rudy ever saying he wants to be in a Hispanic community. Spanish culture is very different from LA/Texas/etc. If he's homesick he'd prob be happier in Italy than LA. But NY is prob the closest thing to Spain he'd find over here.
Yeah, Even though Spain as a country speak Spanish they do not consider themselves Latino and a lot of time are racist towards Latin Americans in Spain. They are European not Latin.
I didn't mean to say the Rox should have been his #1 choice, when I wrote that it just surprised me that he wouldn't have even considered H-Town as a choice considering he was coming from Portland. I am sure Scola and Fernandez have spoken and know each other from Euro League play and international competition so there is probably a relationship already established. NY is a VERY logical choice all things considered, so not saying H-town should have been the choice but just surprising he didn't even give us a thought or maybe he did and it just never came out.
best case scenario... rudy gets dealt to the knicks and then he hates it there and doesnt play... knicks lose even more games and fall more into lottery position ..
Rudy will love playing for D'Antoni. All he would have to do is float around and either flop or try for steals on defense and do whatever he wanted to on offense. The problem is if he plays poorly, the NY media and crowd will jump hard on his case and his ego would have a hard time with it.
