NIKE stats dont tell the whole story. While its agreed kenny shouldnt jack up all those 3s, can camby take the ball on the high post make a dropstep spinmove to the basket? can camby shoot with any range what so ever ? does camby have the footwork that kenny T has? no for all these. kenny T has way more potential on offense. marcus couldnt start for the knicks this year, he likes the bench role what makes u think he will want to start here. and another note on the stats he was playing in the much easier eastern conference, where there isnt nearly as many talented players at his position. yes camby is better on D but 2 shot blocking limited post players , cato and camby would get in the way on offense and we would have to rely soley on our guards. sorry i wouldnt do this trade. ------------------ --TEX
Camby has lots of quickness in the post. He's a low post threat, he's better offensively than KT. So many times, KT or Cato would drop or bobble an incoming pass resulting in a turnover for the Rockets. Camby doesn't do that. The Rockets need defense now, and Camby isn't as bad an offensive player as you're making him out to be. The reason he didn't start for the Knicks was partially due to an injury, when he came back, they chose not to insert him into the lineup, because Kurt Thomas was playing well. Camby would give us a way to: trade Cato (like so many are desperate to do), and not necessarily demand a center in return. ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
Tex- My guess is you are seriously underestimating Camby's play. Further, most likely you have seen little of him play all season except in these playoffs. The playoffs can change things, especially for bench players. Point is, how can you say Camby doesn't at least have some moves if he is jacking up better numbers than KT. And he plays off the bench in (if you ask me0 a strange situation (whole Ewing, THomas, Larry Johnson --I just dont think Camby fits well there). Camby would be a beautiful acquisition for our team, but I still wouldnt give up the number 9 for him. Just all the scrubs. ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. Tex man, we all love the rocks greatly, but sometimes our pride gets too big and blinds us a little. Camby has a higher trade value than KT right now, and that's it. Would I make that proposed deal? No. Neither would the rockets because I think they feel they could get more of what they want from the draft (plus Camby's history of injuries isn't a plus). I don't believe the knicks would make that deal either because I think they feel that they can get a better point elsewhere if Camby/Houston/Childs is on the table.
Jay and NIKE please enlighten me on some moves he has. ive never seen him go to and make a specific move consistently. and btw camby is a V-E-T-E-R-A-N. thomas was a R-O-O-K-I-E. if camby averages about 2pts 2RB 2BL more this year dont u think kenny thomas will improve at all? you guys seem to think that kenny is gonna shoot 39% for his entire career. your right i proly am underestimating camby. but from what i see the only points i ever see him get are freethrows, fast breaks, and hustle points. ive seen him shoot a jump shot or 2 and it was ugly. maybe he has a hooK? i just never see him make any moves. and NIKE sorry i disagree no way is he as good as KT offensively. KT is way more versatile and can do alot more. please tell me what camby does on offense that would benefit our team. and stop thinking NY will trade for our scrubs, camby is likely packaged in a deal for some sort of excellent player. ------------------ --TEX
Camby is 26. He's not quite into veteran status for me. Of note: I said the "trade" would be Drew/KT/Rogers for Camby. We'd still have our pick. They need a PG. Drew IMO is better than the Ward/Childs garbage they have now. They're not exactly going with a run and gun lineup. And that's where Camby would fit in best. KT fits best in a half court offense, and their other PF, Kurt Thomas is likely gone. Rogers would be a backup. Thomas will improve his FG%. But, I don't see it getting to the magical 50% area, 45%-47% is a lot more likely. Does Shaq have a jump shot? Camby will get his points, our goal is to try and run, so there would be plenty of oppurtunities to finish on the break, and he'd be a LOT better at starting them. This team needs defense. Francis and Mobley as it stands right now, are something of a liability. So is Bullard, so is Williams. Camby can cover up for their shortcomings. KT just magnifies them. ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
Well Nike, I am with you on this one. I would trade KT for Camby in a second. What the Rockets need is defense, flat out. I am pretty sure offensively they ranked quite well, but defensively blew. And Camby brings defense. Plus, it seems like everyone else is really overvaluing KT. DOn't get me wrong, he was an EXTREMELY pleasant surprise and did MUCH better than I thought, but to call him a good post up player, or 3 point shooter. I mean he shot like 25% from beyond the arc. Maybe I am being too harsh, but I could have done that. Plus, no one here seems to have ever really watched Camby play. While now mainly a hustle player, the kid can score in other ways and showed MUCH more potential his rookie season than KT did. And now all you guys really seem against him. Same thing could happen to KT. ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. Not screaming like the passengers in the back seat!
Yes, the Rockets do need defense. They ranked 8th overall in scoring offense and 21st in defense. But Camby is not the answer. He's 6-11, 225. His defense looks good primarily because he plays in the Eastern conference. How many really good PF's are there in the Eastern conference? Not as many as in the West. With Camby and Cato in the frontline we'd more likely than not get lit up each night by the opposing teams low post players. ------------------ Drop kick me Jesus through the goalposts of life, Tumble end over end, neither left nor right. When it's all said and done, I think the Knicks might very well end up with MARK JACKSON. If the Pacers do not choose to re-sign him, I can easily see him signing with the Knicks. He's a New Yorker at heart, and he and Jeff Van Gundy are close friends (despite the rivalry). If they can't get a guy like Payton, the Knicks would be quite satisfied to get a true floor leader like Jackson to return to the ballclub. ------------------
Gary Payton Payton isn't on the trading block. The bearded idiot Peter Vescey concocted all this Payton talk. All creditable sources close to Payton and the Sonics are reporting nothing, because there is nothing to talk about since Payton is not on the trading block. Payton and the Sonics management are optimistic about the future since the team was on pace for 55 wins this season prior to injuries and the emergence of Rashard Lewis.
That's exactly what I think JayZ. OK, now I'm gonna go through the West with all the "superstar" PFs, and we'll see how he did. #1. Nuggets (McDyess)-5.5 rebounds, 2 steals, 9.5 points, 1 block, 26 mpg #2. Mavericks (Nowitzki)-10.5 points, 3 blocks, 10 rebounds, 22.5 mpg #3. T-Wolves (Garnett)-18 points, 1 block, 11 rebounds, 37 mpg #4. Spurs (Duncan)-6 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, 24 mpg #5. Jazz (Malone)-18 points, 1 block, 1 steal, 6 rebounds, 32 mpg #6. Warriors (Jamison)-8 points, 2 blocks, 1.5 steals, 8 rebounds, 25 mpg #7. Suns (Googs)-7 points, 2 blocks, 1 steal, 5 rebounds, 23 mpg #8. Blazers (Wallace/Grant)-7 points, 1.5 blocks, 8 rebounds, 23.5 mpg #9. Kings (Webber)-8.5 points, 1.5 blocks, 4.5 rebounds, 25 mpg #10. Sonics (Baker)-15.5 points, 2 blocks, 13.5 rebounds, 25 mpg Keep in mind on some of these, he was coming back from injury. These also are only 1 or 2 game samples. The only series he didn't record a block was the San Antonio series. I checked and he fouled out of that game. We may have to agree to disagree on Camby vs. KT That Jackson idea is interesting....I think it may depend on how the Pacers do though. He did come up as a Knick. ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
Last thought: I do like Camby, but I think that our frontline would be much better if 1.)We let Kenny mature and develop into a consistent scorer... same thing goes for Cato. 2.)Our frontline isnt too bad when they're not injured. Thomas, Cato, Hakeem, TMASS?, Rogers, even Piggy... I think we have a decent frontline. If they don't get injured, and with the development of Kenny/Cato, our frontline can be pretty good. ------------------ treasurer of the moochie norris fan club
I think our front line--that front line actually sucks. In a best case scenario, Cato really improves and Hakeem gets his game back. However, it seems more likely that they play like they did last season, which sucked. ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. I must agree with the king of Rainbows, our very own Purvis Short. Camby is highly overrated. Guys he is a younger Carlos. His d is non existent. He is a weakside shotblocker and thats it. The team D NY plays is so strong that it was easy for him to come off his man and block a shot from the side. He has no Offensive game and his ballhandling skills make Charles Barkley look like John Stockton. Now I might be a little hard on the guy BUT, it is only to prove my point that we DON'T need the guy. Give me KT any day. He is way cheaper and has more upside in my oppinion. Now KT is not our answer at the 4 but neither is Camby. As for Drew I would be happy to get what we gave San Antonio for Maxwell. Lets face it guys Drew is not a trade breaker, Don't be surprised if we are making a block buster deal and instead of Drew's name it is the Mooch's thats being tossed around, teams who need a pg don't want Drew unless they want a)Depth or b) are looking to increase the female attendance age 15 and under. People don't look at players like "he was a former 1st rounder" they look at them as what they are in NBA. Drew has proven nothing in this league other than the fact that Maloney wasn't so bad after all. Drew in almost any trade would be a "yeah why not, I'll take him too". The two Headed monster of Ward/Childs look really good compared to Drew. As far as Mark Jackson on the knicks I think its very possible. The Knicks need a better passer and there are few better than Jackson at that, add to that Jackson wants to return to NY and you have a perfect fit, now its up to the knicks in my opinion if they want to go that route. So I guess I agree with Bima, Short, and Cabbage. ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
Say what you want, but the guy (Camby) had more blocks per game than Cato did in very similar minutes. And the main reason people give for keeping Cato is his defense. Also, I think the fact that the Knicks defense is so good should lead to less, not more opportunities for Camby. Rather, the Rockets defense, which is not good, allows many more players to make it to the hole and gives Cato that many more chances. Finally, if Kenny Thomas is NOT the answer to our PF problem, why not trade him for someone who can at least play defense. Even if you think Camby's defense is overated it is at least twice as good as KT's. Offense is not the problem, defense is. ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. Errr . . . Camby averaged 1.97 bpg in 26.2 mog; Cato averaged 1.91 bpg in 24.3 minutes . . . I guess technically 0.06 bpg is more . . . I guess . . . ------------------
What the hell do you mean you guess? Are you an idiot? 1.97 is 0.06 more than 1.91. You dont even got to get technical about it. Im not a mathmatician or anything but I can at least know when one number is greater than another. ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. 1.97 is 0.6 more than 1.91 ;-) Sailor ------------------ If Dream was a horse ... he would not be pulling your bandwagon anymore.
Marcus Camby blocked one shot for every 13.655 minutes he played. Kelvin Cato blocked one shot for every 12.75 minutes he played this season. Cato's a better shot blocker, and he costs less. Besides, if the Rockets are gonna make a run in the FA market next summer, they can't really afford to take on Camby's big contract. ------------------ Drop kick me Jesus through the goalposts of life, Tumble end over end, neither left nor right. "1.97 is 0.6 more than 1.91" and I'm supposed to be the "idiot"? hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahhahaha! You know, it's obvious that you're "not a mathmatician or anything", but you know there is a calculator function on your computer right? Maybe you should try this function, especially, if you can't handle something as simple as addition or subtraction. ------------------
