i would hope that we would be able to obtain more in a package for mcgrady than just the #8 or wilson chandler, but it's pretty surprising how many people in this thread seem to think the intended end is Larry Hughes the basketball player (as evidenced by the numerous "omg huhges iz awful!1" posts). "larry hughes" and the medically insured "cuttino mobley" are just formal names for the two smaller expiring contracts that the rockets would theoretically be able to trade for actual basketball players in separate deals.
I like the idea of signing young and cheap talent, but getting DeRozan etc won't be enough for a McGrady deal IMO. We need healthy veterans who can be potential replacements right off the bat.
Amare is a better fit and a better player in just about every aspect of basketball. If the rox can get richardson and amare for tracy, scola, and lowry, they shouldn't let kerr off the phone. U would get the wing and upgrade the 4/5 at the same time. Not only that, u would have a guy that could produce when yao goes down for his standard injury time.
Couldn't agree with you more. Do people realize that Deke is done and that we used a 6'5" chuck Hayes at the 5 when Yao went down?
I have no problems with him being traded if we get what we need, a wing that can create/close out a game. I don't see that being possible by trading T-Mac. I still think we should wait till the trade deadline and see how T-Mac does before then.
I figured this thread was an appropriate place to drop this nugget of information. If the Rockets trade T-Mac to the Knicks this summer, every Rockets fan should be rooting for McGrady to have an AWESOME year and for the Knicks to . . . (gulp!) . . . win a lot of games and make the playoffs in 2009-10. Guess who owns the Knicks' COMPLETELY UNPROTECTED first rounder in the 2010 NBA Draft (as in, even if the Knicks win the lottery and get the #1 pick, it STILL goes to this team)??? The Utah Jazz.
This helps the Rockets How????? I live in NY and can't stand alot of the fans and media here. They talk **** just to have something write about. This is exactly what I was afraid of happening. We look desperate and teams offer scraps for Tmac. Let's not pull another Pippen trade where we just get a LOAD of Scraps.
That was the best thing ive read on here today!! Look everyone knows Morey will make the right move, and most likely it will blow us all out of the water. Can't wait
I haven't read the entire thread, but has anyone thought about acquiring Al Harrington in a deal with the Knicks? The deal would be: Houston: Tmac + filler New York: Curry + Harrington + filler Filler would probably be expiring contracts on both sides to make the deal work. Essentially you are taking back Curry in order to get Harrington. I think its worth it. You get a guy thats another borderline all-star player. He's a big who can stretch the floor, and I hear he can play SF. So we could basically replace Battier in the starting line-up. Guy is a solid 3 point shooter, can play the 4. He'll stretch the court for Yao. Most importantly, he's a scoring threat that won't disrupt the offense. The only negatives to this deal would be Curry's contract and the potential logjam at the 4. I think the addition of another solid offensive threat (a 3rd scorer if you will) thats decent on the defensive end out weighs the negatives.
I was kinda thinking the same thing. The good thing about this topic on this thread is that it finally seems like there is a good majority consensus that McGrady should be gone before training camp starts. I am really hoping that the trade is done soon so that there would be no more drama, uncertainty and chemistry problems at the start of the season. For once, in a very long time, we can really enjoy the team from the get go.
Al Harrington? I just made this long post about how he would be a nice addition to the team and worth giving up Tmac's expiring (thats essentially what he is at this point). Thats probably the best we can get for an expiring. We could get better players, but they'll have long contracts. Al Harrington: 1. Ability to spread the floor at the 4 2. Can run 3. Starting line-up of Brooks/Artest/Harrington/Scola/Yao 4. He expires next year and given the market 2010 we could probably sign him back cheaper. 5. Perfect fit into Adelman's "everyone is a threat" offense.
McGrady + Landry for Lee, Curry, 8th pick, & Danilo Gallinari Eddy Curry's 15th ALL TIME in FG% (.5460) aint that some sh**. The Larry Hughes, Mobley deal is smart for the Rockets. But why would the Knicks do it if they they're gonna come off the books anyway? So it'd depend on McGrady being a SERVICABLE player for them, to actually make the Knicks competitive and sell something to the fans. Not a guarantee....
