Here's the real reason: They need to deter this behavior before someone gets seriously hurt. If this doesn't stop then Malice at the Palace 2 is inevitable, and the league will do anything it takes to prevent that.

That would be the NBA's worst nightmare other than the Lakers getting eliminated. The thing is, all of these disturbances seem to be leading up to something important.

Agree completely. This is getting absurd. It's like someone sees a dumbass do something on TV and decides they are going to try and one up them. Would be hilarious to see one of these idiots get their ass kicked

Has it always been this crazy and it is just being reported this year?

Looking back on my season ticket days at NRG, I personally stopped a few fights from going down by talking some sense into drunks... Seen more than a few at Astros (specifically v. Cubs fans for whatever reason) or people trying to run across either field. Never saw anything like that at Toyota Center though. The **** that is happening is un-freaking-acceptable.

Definitely feels like some bozos are encouraged to one-up each other.

Ok, then how about when Kyrie launched a ball into the stands out of anger after losing in Denver? A ball weighs a whole lot more than a water bottle. I am sure there are numerous examples, these are just games I have seen.

You still have the best username on cf. I don't know if anyone has told you this before. It's just perfect. A king but also #1 king.

An object moving up loses velocity per second because it's moving against gravity. The water bottle going down would be gaining velocity. Also, because of the material of the surface and the fact that the ball is filled with air, getting hit by a ball would hurt a lot less than a filled water bottle.

The bottle was empty, if you really think some guy was able to drop an empty water bottle from some extreme height and time it nearly perfectly and come that close to hitting Kyrie, then that guy should probably be hired as a hit man and throw pennies off the empire state building at his mark. Lol he was not that far from the guy. Getting hit by an EMPTY water bottle from 25 feet away will not damage even Kyrie's fragile body. The bottle was not "dropped" it was thrown, there is a difference, and it also would be losing velocity since it was thrown sideways vs downward. Easily the dumbest post I have read on here.
