The entire stadium is increasing 50% in price -- on average. The article is only quotes ppl from the 1st 10 rows.

check this out, average prices at the beginning of this season:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5846998

    Current:
    Code:
    Team Avg. price Change
    L.A. Lakers $95.25 2.1%
    New York $88.66 0.0%
    Boston $68.55 0.0%
    Chicago $64.25 0.0%
    Portland $63.05 0.0%

If the increase happens across the stadium, then it will be something like this:

    Code:
    Team Avg. price Change
    New York [COLOR="Red"]$130.66 [/COLOR] 49.0%
    L.A. Lakers $95.25 2.1%
    Boston $68.55 0.0%
    Chicago $64.25 0.0%
    Portland $63.05 0.0%

$176 is more than any ticket in Toyota Center except the floor seats. $35 more on average than the Lakers ??

completey wrong about toyota center. Almost every seat between 105-109 and 118- 122 is 175 or more per ticket per game as a season ticket holder except for the last few rows. that's why the seats are always half empty.

Stand corrected. The Knicks average ticket price will be $5 less than most TYC "Premiums Club" and I'm guessing $20-30 less than first 10 rows of Premium Club...again not floor.

    http://www.nba.com/media/rockets/2011PremiumBrochure.pdf

so much has changed in three years when I lived in Houston as STH. Premium looks like it took a 20% jump in past 4 years???

If someone is dumb enough to pay $900 to watch the crap they call Knicks basketball, the Knicks should be smart enough to take their money.

It's because they're investing over 1 billion dollars into a renovation of MSG

Sure, a lot of historical events in American sports happened in MSG

But can anyone even name 10 amazing basketball moments that happened in MSG?

The Knicks organization hasn't won **** in forever.

Let me try w/o googling too much.

    Willis Reed NBA Finals game
    Reggie Miller "choke" game
Reggie Miller 8 points in 10 seconds game
    Jordan 55 point return game
    Jordan dunks over knicks game
Many NBA Drafts (though they take place in teh basement at "the theater", formerly known as the felt forum)
The NIT back when it used to be a bigger tourney than the NCAA
That crazy celtics-knicks super-OT christmas game with a duel btw King and Bird or something.
All Big East tourney moments (can't think of any but there's got to be some in the 30 years they've had the tourney there)

I'm a democrat and all but I say in capitalist America, they have every right not to pay high prices. They don't pay, prices come down. If they are willing to pay, demand dictates prices should be higher.

Of course. It's not like someone just came up with some random price. Pretty sure demand was analyzed and there are waiting lists..

Don't worry about it - the good people will still be able to afford it. Poor people are dumb and lazy so they don't deserve to go to NBA games.

Actually, if you read the article, no one quoted is crying.

But there probably are ppl elsewhere in the stadium b****ing a lot: The entire stadium is increasing $35 on average per ticket above Laker's tickets.
