Exactly, that would be completely insane. I assume that what Ford means is, the Knicks are willing to offer one or more of the 2012 pick, Hill, and the 2011 pick swap, but not all three. If we can't get all three, then the Knicks' offer doesn't seem competitive with the Bulls', so hopefully Chicago stays interested.
That's not what it says or do you just mean those two players are just horrible enough for the deal not to go through because that's what I'm thinking.
Knicks are bipolar. Monday afternoon it was reported that a Knicks-Rockets deal was 'close'. Next morning the Knicks get cold feet. Tuesday night the same deal was 'almost finalized'. Today, again the Knicks are backing out.
Fark them. Deal with Chicago instead. Walsh is trying to outsmart Morey. Let's see how smart he gets by not getting the huge cap McGrady would create.
The Knicks can go to hell. Nobody is going to take enough of their garbage to give them cap room without multiple draft picks. Take it, or leave it Walsh. Incidentally, how did passing on Stephen Curry work out for you Knicks fans?
Exactly, I think Morey is just playing Chicago and NYC against each other. So when they say "NY is close to getting T-mac," Morey then asks well what if we want this which the Knicks say no to. I honestly do not know who Morey wants to trade with, but if the NYC is as has been stated, I really hope that is one we take.
i think all this going on in the media is BS. both the knicks and bulls have made their final offers. the teams are just leaking stuff out to pressure the other sides. but at the end of the day, morey knows what both teams are offering. he's just taking his time deciding.
As for McGrady, the situation remains as we've been saying all along: it'll go down to the wire. Knicks want to protect those draft picks. from alan hahn
Chad Ford Latest Intel POSTED: Feb. 17 -- 3:09 p.m. ET McGrady Chad Ford: The Knicks and Rockets spoke Wednesday morning about a potential Tracy McGrady trade. Sources familiar with the negotiations told ESPN.com that although the Knicks told the Rockets they remain interested in acquiring the shooting guard in a deal for Larry Hughes and Jared Jeffries, they are still unwilling to meet all of the Rockets' demands -- cap relief, Jordan Hill, the swapping of 2011 first-round picks and the Knicks' 2012 first-round pick. "We'd like McGrady and the cap relief," one Knicks source said. "But the Rockets are asking for too much. We're willing to pay a premium to make a deal. But the price right now is still too high." According to the source, the Rockets are still looking for other partners. The Bulls have been mentioned as a possibility, but sources believe their offer is less attractive than the Knicks' -- even if the Knicks don't give the Rockets everything they're asking for. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=TradeTalkRoundup-2010 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i told y'all walsh is not any normal GM. he's going to go toe to toe with morey and say, "here's my offer. take it or leave it." i guess he's retaliating morey's hardball with his own. great battle in the front offices.
If I were a fly in DM's ear, I'd say WAIT OUT WALSH Walsh is trying to play hard ball when in reality the pressures ON HIM, in NEW YORK to get T-Mac is greater than those of us looking to MOVE T-Mac. I know that may be hard for you to believe, but the NY has already made T-Mac in NY a done deal, foregone conclusion. If Walsh fails to land this deal, he will be under scrutiny of ALL in NY including the media up to and through the offseason. When potentially, he can distract them with talk of getting LeBron - who incidentally may be less inclined to leave Cleveland if they will a championship this year. I think Walsh knows the NY fandom is getting impatient after years of rebuilding and T-mac will bring in the fans, if at all, out of curiousity and nostalgia. NY will turn on Walsh if he fails to land this deal. And unless you have an iron heart like Donald Trump, Walsh will crumble. He will fork over Jordan HIll. jedimindtrickSAGE
i don't think he minds giving up jordan hill. the problem is the picks (and i think walsh talking to dolan yesterday has something to do with this and how dolan does not want to give up anymore picks). the knicks have reduced their offer. and according to that article, it's still better than the bulls'. so it's up to morey now.
