Guess it's nothing, because I don't see New York doing it. Remember, the whole idea for them is to get Melo, and if the Rockets get AR and Gallo, who is left on the Knicks that's gonna entice Denver to make the deal?
To me, Chandler's kind of redundant on this team. I don't see him as a major upgrade. And he's at the point where his game likely won't improve much anymore. On our current roster, I'd much rather have Randolph or Gallo(much more so for Gallo). Even at the cost of more players from our side. But if we also trade depth for an elite player like Iggy, I'd find Chandler a much more attractive piece.
i'd rather randolph or gallo too, but my points was that chandler would be a nice piece to add. even if he doesn't get much better, he's still good and young enough to stay good for a while. and rather than throwing more players, i'd rather throw another knicks pick. they want the 2012 pick, but this years option to swap might be worthless if the knicks are as good or better than us. i'd throw that into the trade before any young guys we already have.
The latest report is Melo is holding out to be a free agent, no extension where he goes. This scenario leaves Denver with nothing as the Knicks can just sign him then. Involving the Rockets gets them a couple of first rounders at least.
Not really. Morey's the one holding the cards in this. He's not the one regretting giving up the picks, Walsh is. Obviously, Melo doesn't want to be a Rocket, and one way or another, will end up a Knick. So why not capitalize on the opportunity to take some of Walsh's other assets?
Ah, my point is that Chandler isn't really worth trading for. But Gallo/Randolph would represent enough of an upgrade that I'd give up picks. I like Chandler too, especially with Morey/Adelman. But it's not like he can take us to the next level either next year or in the future. Randolph and Gallo both have that potential.
I don't think Anthony Randolph is worth both the right to swap and their other draft pick, and the trade exception. It doesn't make sense helping NY get Melo unless we include both pick considerations. Also, if Randolph is added using the trade exception we will be forced to cut another player, especially if we sign Fesenko or Dampier. Taylor? Jeffries? I say Gallinari or bust. If they want that draft pick so bad then that's the only way I'm dealing. And don't tell me they won't have anything to entice Denver then...they don't now. If Melo still doesn't go to NY after we trade them back their picks then that is their problem. I say we deal with them in a separate trade and they take their chances. Otherwise, I say just keep all our assets and play with the team we have until the February trade deadline where I expect there to be some players available most notably perhaps Igoudala or Granger depending on how the season plays out.
This whole situation is getting rediculous. Now I absolutely hate Melo. Why do people blame Lebron for what he did, at least he played out his contract. Melo is being a whinny little punk and demanding a trade to the knicks so he can resign before the new CBA (What a frickin douche).
If Melo is just gonna outright sign with the Knicks, then it would be in the best interest of the Knicks not to make a move at all.
New York isn't going to make a deal until they know for certain they are getting Carmelo. If they trade us Gallo, and Denver wanted him, then they just ****ed themselves. I agree, I don't care what happens to New York, but New York is not going to take that gamble. They already did that with LeBron.
Agreed. They could save alot of money, if they know Melo will just wait it out. Under the new CBA, Carmelo's contract could be cheaper than LeBron/Wade/Bosh. It would give the Knicks more cap space to upgrade the supporting cast.
