I say that if Denver wants those picks, and New York wants Melo, then Houston should move in on this and pry away Randolph, and possibly another piece from either NY or Denver. Either way, Melo is going to end up a Knick next year if he wants to be, which jeopardizes the value of the 2012 pick. And if Denver is going to trade Melo to the Knicks THIS year, then the value of the "right to swap" pick is also in jeopardy. Sure, the Rockets could move up in the draft with the "right-to-swap" pick, but if the Knicks make the playoffs, is there really going to be a piece outside the lottery that's going to impact the team more than Anthony Randolph? Morey needs to trade these picks while there is still demand for them.

When taking away any talk of potential. Brooks, Landry, and Bud are better than Randolph.

When given 30+ minutes, Randolph averages something like 25-12-3-3

    Just saying... :)

    19-10-2.5 blocks per36 as a 20 year old...

The 3 guys named in that article are Gallo, AR and Toney Douglas.

Funny the one good Isiah Thomas holdover, W. Chandler, is not mentioned. :)I continue to think Isiah Thomas is driving any effort to give up the farm and selling the young talent down the river (or rather up the mountain) for Melo.

Not consistent, injury prone, and awful shooting % for a big man.

Its time for Morey to grab Walsh by the throat and SQUEEZE again, tell him what he wants or spell out the doomsday scenario. Morey should be able to grab an asset without giving up any players. Folks this could get very ugly for NY but they want their guy.

I understand your point about finding talent outside of the lottery, but if both the Rockets and the Knicks make the playoffs next year, is there really going to be that big of a disparity in talent that would make the Rockets want to pick at 15 or 16 as oppose to 20 or 21? Moving up in the draft is nice, but if the Rockets can get Randolph and are still only be 5 picks lower than the Knicks, wouldn't be it just be worth it to make the deal?

Looking beyond stats, good and bad, Randolph would bring incredible size and athleticism to this team. Especially given our roster, I think he has a spot in the rotation. He can definitely serve an useful purpose with the potential to expand his game.

I look at it similarly as with Ariza. He's good enough as is, although with notable flaws. And he has upside. If he develops, then we get a steal. If he doesn't, you can still ship him out later to another team who wants that "potential".

18.7 "per" for a 20 year old sophmore is awesomely efficient, absurd, statistical production.

I wouldn't call him "injury prone" yet, as he is 20 and has played two seasons.

Lamar Odom shoots 46% from the field for his career.
Josh Smith shoots 46% from the field for his career.
Anthony Randolph shoots 45% from the field for his career.

I think we are all assuming the players/assets would be coming from NY, what if Morey is more interested in the Nuggets assets? I can see a 3-way deal, where we get talent from NY AND Denver.

Yep. Anthony Randolph has potential All-Star in him. He's only 20 freaking years old. Put him alongside the Rockets' mature squad and a great coach at developing young talent in Adelman, and Randolph should be golden for us.

Randolph is very very interesting. I would give up a pick for Randolph in this deal.

sounds like they want all of those players for melo, leaving the rockets with chandler for a pick.

i had chandler on my fantasy team last year so i was able to follow him very closely. to start, he is super efficient. he shoots high percentages and doesn't turn the ball over. he is a really solid defender and a good rebounder for his position. he is also a versatile scorer. he can hit the 3 or score from the post.

i would be very happy sending a pick over for him. of course i would rather randolph or galinari but that's less likely to happen as denver would prefer those players too.

AR + Turiaf for Jeffires and the Knicks picks

AR is in his last year of his contract, but has a team option for next year @ only 2.9 MIL.

Turiaf is in last year of his contract, but has a player option @ 4.3 MIL.

If that is the case, then Houston could send a player to Denver to offset the trade. Rockets get Randolph, Denver gets Jordan Hill? Just depends on who Houston values more.

pretty much. or we can send 2 picks to pry randolph out of denvers grasp.

honestly if melo is on the knicks this season, there is a good chance that they finish better than us, which means our pick is higher, which means there is no swap of picks. plus next years pick will be late first round anyway.

dump the knicks picks for talent now.
