I put this in the other thread too.....but the guy who has been feeding me infok says that the pick that Sheridan is referring to would be either the Rox or Ind
i assume it would be Randolph still since the Knicks arent parting w Gallo....there isnt much else on the Knick roster that is worth a 1...im not saying Randolph necessarily is either...but he is moreso than whatever else they have....i guess a player from Denver seems like it would make sense too
I don't know if that is such an easy assumption. I doubt Donnie Walsh will part with Anthony Randolph in exchange for only their own 2012 pick back (or nullifying the swap). If it's only a pick from the Rockets, it's got to be something less coming back from New York.
No Randolph, no deal. No one on the Knicks roster is worth it other than him. Maybe Chandler? But that would certainly be the end of either Battier or Budinger.
It must be Chandler imo, NY would need to keep Randolph. This could mean Jeffries and Battier is as good as gone in the same deal.
Thanks for the info. I agree Randolph is too much for a pick. But "something less" than Randolph would seem to be of little use for Houston, which lacks a superstar, but is filled with good players. Where would, for example, Toney Douglas or Wilson Chandler fit in if traded to Houston? Either he doesn't make it into the rotation or he does but squeeze out somebody who is probably not much worse. In any case, I don't know if getting one more player for a pick when you already have great depth is good asset management since the value of a player who isn't getting minutes probably drops. My guess (and hope) would be that Houston deals for Randolph for something more than simply one pick. Could be 2 picks (either both Houston's 2012 and NY's 2012 or a 2012 pick + whatever 2011 pick comes to Houston), and could very well include a player, too (Patterson, or Hill most likely since they are PFs).
It would only apply if we didnt also have our own 2012 pick. You can't, at any point, let your team be in a position where you have zero first round picks in the next two drafts.
Problem there for NY is that keeping Gallo, and having traded Randolph for a pick (or two), what do the Knicks have left to give Denver that would be more attractive than what Morey might offer?
Think it could be Chandler, certainly the Knicks wont give up Randolph and he may be the piece Morey is considering. What value does Chandler have? This will be his 4th season and every year has improved. Do you think he can still improve? He dont seem to be a very good shooter which is why i question his value on this squad, but everything else about his game is pretty solid 14/6/3 is not bad for a role player assuming he comes off the bench with Lee who was 12/3. To me Chandler and Lee will be nothing more then solid role players. Some folks seem to think Chandler can be an All-Star, but who knows. Improving shooting is not as difficult as other aspects to his game.
Great point, except it's not even remotely true. http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#Q74 Maybe you should read more and post less.
Getting Chandler means we are definitely shipping either Battier or Budinger out. If I were a betting man, my money would be on Chandler. While Chandler isn't as good of a three point shooter as Battier, his defense is pretty decent and can offset the loss of Battier. Question is? Who else do we get back? My guess would be that we would also get back someone from the Nuggets.
This is one boring offseason. If Morey can bring a player in from the 2nd round like Landry i'd like to see what he can do with Patterson. From what i hear Morey viewed Patterson as a top 5 pick that fell to 14 on his draft board. Lets hope all is true and Patterson is a Marion clone.
