dont forget that the Rockets got super lucky in the league veto'ing the first chris paul trade which I had never seen before. That trade goes through we have a completely different team with no Harden.
I would like to think Morey would have still been able to put together a compelling package for Harden. It's not that hard to beat the package he gave up.
I'm hoping we can use all the NG's, picks, and euro rights instead of another player along with Anderson. However, although I love Ariza, I would be more ok with him going than Gordon or Capela.. Gordon is our backup guard and 6MOY, Capela is essential to our picknroll and lobs, and we just signed TWO guys that can somewhat replace Ariza. He is the most moveable of the group... But I hope we can do it without. I'm afraid of what this forum will do if it's more than just Anderson... Ppl forget tho, if its a good trade its going to hurt everyone involved..
A good trade hurts, that is true, but ultimately the good outweighs the bad. IMO, the good doesn't outweigh the bad if we give up Ariza and Ryno for Melo.
If Morey was not only able to convince a third team to be part of this trade but also convinced that third team to make a trade of their own in order to be part of the trade, then he should be knighted. "Hey Blazers, I want you to be the third team in this trade in which you get nothing but bad contracts. Oh you don't have the space to do it? Then I want you to negotiate a complex trade with another team to make space for this bad contract you'll get from this trade in which you get nothing."
Fair opinion, but of all the people that could be included, Ariza is the most redundant with Mbah and Tucker. He is also the oldest out of everyone else. I don't want it to happen, I'm just trying to spread some happiness on it in case it does happen to try and prevent mass hysteria (not that it will work).
I don't see a viable deal to be had. I think Portland just moved forward and made the deal they needed to make from a luxury tax perspective and it probably killed our ability to use either them or Brooklyn to facilitate a trade. Now I think the only way we make a deal work basically is if NY just relents and decides to take Ryno, which seems extremely unlikely. I think NY is going to force Melo's hand and get to where they say "Look, you can't go to Houston because we can't make a viable trade work there so it's either expand your list or be a part of our organization."
Eh, if it happens, it happens. We would just have to hope for the best at that point. I definitely agree that out off Capela, Ego, and Ariza, he is definitely the most "movable"; I just don't feel like it is likely to happen.
not sure if what we had would have been compelling we were slated to trade martin, dragic, scola and the NYK 2012 first (16th pick became a waste anyway because of Royce White) While the salary for Martin could have been replaced with someone else, not sure if we would have anyone to fill in that gap that OKC would have wanted. No to mention Lowry was traded for the lottery protected pick that OKC really wanted as well. We could have still given them Lamb but no way we could have given them another lotto pick. Maybe we give Lowry instead but OKC already have Westbrook. I just dont think we would have had the "assets" to get OKC to bite.
Which Melo would probably have no trouble doing; he gets paid, stays home, and can let anyone and everyone know how the shitty NYK FO promised they would trade him to Houston and reneged. Teams go through great lengths to cater to stars and superstars for a reason. Porzingis was already disgruntled enough as it is last season. Do they really want a disgruntled Melo sitting next to him the entire season?
