I think Adams is a way better defender than DeAndre tbh...DJ is a big presence and can block shots, but being a good defender is another thing. I also don't think it's fair to compare Anderson with Adams just considering shooting and defense, this way you make Anderson look better than he is. Ryan can shoot, but on both sides there's basically nothing else he can do well, Adams on the other hand is well rounded and can do almost everything fairly well while being a very good defender. Aside for that, he's still 24 and has improved his game on both sides every year, Anderson on the other end is who he is at this point, almost 30 and has always be injury prone which is another thing to consider. To me it's more like this: Anderson, decent player on a bad contract (and that explains why nobody is exactly excited to get him, let's say...) Adams, good player on a meh contract
@The Cat I just want to thank you for bringing peace for all of us who are optimistic on this Melo trade. You are definitely bringing great discussion to the board and it is truly appreciated. Glad you are taking the time to dissect and present evidence about sources and also sprinkling in bits and pieces of what you think is going on. Much much appreciated.
I've been on record since the moment Stephen A. reported Melo's interest in the Rockets as saying I would do a deal for him ONLY if it was a straight up swap for Ryan -- so no, I would absolutely not "go crazy" if Morey decided not to deplete the rotation for him. It would suck if he went to OKC, but not enough that you just panic and say, "HERE, HAVE WHATEVER YOU WANT!" and leave yourself with a worse team than you started with in the process. That just makes no logical sense.
It totally depends on what is sent out with said players too. We have an idea of parts, but sweeteners in the form of picks could also stack the deck one way or the other. If I'm NYK is it about picks or cap? I don't see cap being the concern. Deals can still get done with those weights in place. It's the side talent, the sweeteners that make the deal. The issue is, if NYK thinks Capella is a sweetener then they are crazy AF. Capella is the deal. If NYK wants to expand things out, give us a bit more than Melo back, then sure we can listen to some offers. Any poster who thinks Ryno and Clint for Melo is a good deal, even without picks, is crazy.
Hey so I've been wondering, how did you make your member status read "i am a girl?" Im tryna change mine up to something tight.
I suspect the longer this goes the more likely it's an Anderson for Melo swap with no other teams involved.
If OKC swaps Kanter for Melo, they would have gotten MUCH better this offseason without a single good asset. That's impressive.
If you donate money to the "tip jar" you can get the cool title of "contributing member". You could actually become a productive member of this board for once over the past month
