We won't be making a deal with either team, here's why :

Knicks : Have crap, old expensive crap. The only player they have that would remotely interest us is too injury-prone.

T'Wolves : Won't be trading Garnett for the pick straight, And we'd have to gut our roster to make it happen to even out both his monstrous salary, and monstrous talent, we'd be left with nothing.

What about some sort of three way deal where Ming goes to NY, Spree, Camby, whatever goes to Minn, and KG comes here. Throw in whatever to make salaries work. Maybe a pipe dream, but could this be a possibility?

Brand is on a low dollar rookie scale contract.

Camby has trouble staying injury free while playing in the generally smaller East.

    Pass on Spree & Camby.

KG in Houston would be more than I could hope or dream, but it would take more than the first pick to do it. What would you be willing to add on? KT? Griffin? Mobley? How about Cato, Rice, Moochie, Williams, or Taylor? How about all of them? I would really like to get KG! Instant deep into the playoffs wouldn't you think?

Easy, both the Clippers and the Bulls are under the salary cap. Plus, Brand's contract is pretty small, so it is easy to trade players for picks when you are 5+ million under the cap.

The reason we cannot trade any of the big three is simple, Any combination of the two(i.e. Francis and KG or Cat and KG) would not be able to get past LA's dynamic duo. If we have any aspirations of winning the championship, which would be the goal if we trade for KG, would only be possible with career years from Franchise, Cat and KG. In addition, Griffin would need to improve dramatically.

I would be willing to do what it takes to get KG or Duncan except trade anyone of the big 3.

Actually, it's in excess of $20 million if I remember correctly. He was the last big contract under the old CBA, and this is why there's been some talk about trading him.

Concevably, he will be able to make his old salary +20% once this one runs up but only from the team that holds his rights. I believe if he goes somewhere else, he has to get the veteran max. If you could get him to resign for, say, $13 mil/per he might be worth it, but how can you expect to win if you have one person eating 50% of your cap.

Also, isn't the cap actually supposed to go down this year?

I would have a very hard time believing that the Wolves would send Garnett for the 1st pick. I think the first and the 15th would be closer to being fair. Garnett is in my opinion one of the top 3 players in the league and he is an amazing talent. I could not even imagine what the Rockets would be like with Francis, Garnett and Griffin.

    How about...

    Minnesota trades:
    PG Chauncey Billups
    (12.5 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 5.5 apg in 28.7 minutes)
    SF Kevin Garnett
    (21.2 ppg, 12.1 rpg, 5.2 apg in 39.2 minutes)

    Minnesota receives:
    PF Jason Collier
    (4.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 0.4 apg in 25 games)
    PG Moochie Norris
    (8.1 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 4.9 apg in 82 games)
    C Kelvin Cato
    (6.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 0.4 apg in 75 games)
    C Maurice Taylor
    (6.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 0.4 apg in 75 games)
    SF Glen Rice
    (8.6 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.6 apg in 20 games)

Change in team outlook: -6.2 ppg, +0.8 rpg, and -3.4 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Obviously we'd throw in our #1 pick.

    For KG?

For salary purposes, and future flexibility obviously, Mo Taylor and RIce would both have to be thrown in. Let's assume that's 16M. Then they want a useful player too, let's give them KT. Make it 17M. But we want KG to play the 3, so we need a backup for Griffin, or a starter even. They'll throw in Trent?(and we'll sign an FA). Still, they'd want more. How about we also send them our #15 and our 2nd rounder?

    Mo T
    Rice
    KT
    #1
    #15
    #41 (or around)

    for

    KG
    Trent

    Cato/FA/Griff
    Griff/Trent/FA
    KG/T-Mo
    Mobley/Torres
    Francis/Moochie

Of course, this would start some serious re-building for them. Rice frees 10M in 2 seasons, and they get the #1, and the #15 could very well be Stoudamire, Hilario, or Marcus. Very deep draft. If they get their hands on Juan Dixon with the other pick, even better. They will be saddled with Mo Tay's contract, but they have to pay a price, and we're also giving them KT as insurance.

Of course, this is very optimistic, as they can probably land Glenn Robinson and Tim Thomas for KG. They can land Darius Miles and Lamar Odom.

As always, this is what Ireally want:

    Cato
    Collier(filler)
    #1

    for

    Odom
    Kandi(@6M >> still better than cato's contract)

If Kandi wants 7M, fine. Give it to him. I'd rather have a change of scenery for the same price.

    Kandi
    Griffin
    Odom
    Mobley
    Francis

The oldest guy in the group? Mobley. The weakest player in the starting line-up? Kandi. How many of these guys can create for themselves? All, but Griffin can and will show improvement.

    1.) 3-way trade:
Houston receives: Garnett, #7 pick (Woods, Butler, Jeffries, ...)
New York receives: #1 Pick(Yao Ming), Rice
    Minnesota receives: Sprewell, Griffin, Taylor

    2.) Hou-Was
Hoston receives: White, #39 pick (Welsch), #40 pick (Yarbrough)
    Washington receives: Norris, KT

    3.) #15 pick-select A. Stoudmire

    4.) Re-sign: W. Williams, O. Torres, T. Brown

    our lineup would be:

    White, Cato, Collier
    Garnett, Stoudmire, Morris
    Woods, Williams, Yarbrough
    Mobley, Torres, (Welsch)
    Francis, Brown, (Welsch)

    or maybe
    5.)Hou-Mia
Houston receives: E. Jones, #10 pick (C. Borchardt)
    Miami receives: Mobley, Cato

    lineup would be:

    White, Borchardt, Collier
    Garnett, Stoudmire, Morris
    Woods, Williams, Yarbrough
    Jones, Torres, (Welsch)
    Francis, Brown, (Welsch)

as much as KG is tempting...we would have to include other players on the team to make it work (eg, cat, and others)

IMHO, to have EG(who might develop into a garnett type player) + Yao(or any other decent center besides Cato) + stud small forward(with #15 pick in this deep draft it's a possibility) is far better than Garnett.

Also,...watching the kings this year makes me realize....how valuable the bench is...we need a deep team, esp. for the playoffs...Mo and KT(if he stays) will be valuable during playoff time...

[/QUOTE] The New York Knicks contracted with the FBI to get CD's home phone number and even talked the Timberwolves into splitting the cost.

    Do you people watch basketball?

Garnett's not going anywhere short of Francis and the #1 (and I doubt that's even enough).

    Sorry, try again.

First of all, Rocketguy is making ALL of this up. This is the same guy who said the Rockets had David Robinson in their pocket and that Chicago was begging to trade the rockets Curry for Cato and #13.

However, if there is ANY little hint to KG being traded, which their isn't, this is what it would take:

    Rice
    MoT
    Cato
    #1
    Griffin
    For
    KG

I have to agree with napster, KG is going nowhere.

Still since we are dreamcasting just a little I could not help myself.

    Eddie
    KG
    TMo
    Cat
    Francis

That looks like a pretty damn good defensive team to me. Lots of blocks.

Well I think KG can be had, without losing one of our stars...

    Three-way deal time:

NY receives: #1, KT (MoT? Cato? could be used to dump a contract)

MINN receives: Spreewell, Camby, KT/Mot, Rockets #15

    HOU receives: KG, Knicks #7

I think thats about balanced for all teams...

with #7 we could pick up that Center, or even Slide EG or KG over for some PT at the 5 and have a block-a-thon...

    i wish i wish...

Eddie will be the SF in 2 years. Our team is set when Yao gets picked. The 15th pick will fill the obligation.

    Francis-Moochie
    Mobley-Pick
    Griffin-Rice/Pick
    Taylor-Thomas
    Ming-Cato

That's a good team, full of offense, defense could be helped by upcoming picks. We need Yao Ming. Shaq, Duncan would have to come out to defend his shot. They will double team him for sure-raining jumpers from Francis, Mobley, Rice, Griffin. No Questions asked.

the best move would be to deal with the clippers. You can get odom and the mad man (okli) for that pick and use the 15th pick to pick up butler. That way you don't tear the team apart.

I love to get the B-I-G T-I-C-K-E-T!!!!!!! but not if the Roxs have to tear the team apart. As stated earlier, no 1 player is worth 50% of your team salary. You have no room for role players, and now days you got to have them. No if, and ,and buts about it. The role players make or break the team.
