Hey I sort of like the new music. For a limited time it has no advertizers and except for saying something like "Latino and Proud" there aren't any interruptions.. Latin hip hop and a good beat. Not bad. If I was teaching Spanish in a high school I would assing it instead of the usual boring stuff that makes people hate language.s
I know some of you are old enough to remember when DJ's played, at least to a degree, what they felt like, however the spirit moved them. I don't listen to "rock" on the radio much anymore because it's become so "canned." Heck, the "classic rock" stations tend to play the same damn tunes over and over again. In Austin, I listen to 107.1 and 90.5 usually. Back in the day, in Houston, KFMK and, in the 70's, KLOL rocked. Pacifica was great, at least part of the time, back then as well. Don't know what's happening now. If nothing else, at least I'll get some ideas from this thread for stations to listen to when I visit Houston. Thanks.
Signed, with a great big F*CK YOU CLEAR CHANNEL in the comments section. I'm so pissed I signed it twice. (Okay, I screwed up, but whatever. Christ I hate Clear Channel.)
I know lots of people wanted them to stay on....BUT if more people would tune in they would still be on... Its funny I was watching some kinda "Worst moments in METAL" on TV and now I read this..
Well, duh. When has one of these online petitions ever accomplished anything? Never! But at least we can vent a little frustration on it.
thats right, will it have any effect? probably not, but the mass voice will be heard. if we were as determined as jeff during SOR then perhaps something could happen, i guess we'll wait and see.
OK...let me get this straight. A couple of weeks ago, 92.1 switched to a Tejano format. Now KLOL. How many of these stations do we need? This is sad. I have never before had so few radio stations that play stuff I find enjoyable. I have always found enough (even in College Station) to fill my presets.
well...maybe we all need to flood the regional VPs email with our protests so he can hear form us directly. here is a copy of the response from the VP after a friend emailed them about this. email addy and phone number right there....spread it around.
You know, this got me wondering......could Clear Channel be attempting to combine the formats of the ole Rock 101 with the the current format of the Buzz to appease the 101 faithfull. Sure there different genre's of music. But they can coexist together quite nicely. And besides, was it just me or did the Buzz's playlist seemed to be a little different today.....not so alterantive with all the new weak stuff that's out there. At times they went a little back and played something you would probably hear on 101, like old Smashing Pumpkins. Until today, I cant really recall a Pumpkins appearance on the Buzz. Or maybe I'm just not that frequent of a listener. Crappy radio stations will do that. And recording artists wonder why we burn there songs for free from places like Kazaa and E Donkey.....
Too funny. Tell your friend KTRH news is on the chopping block. They have been slowly eliminating reporters/on-air personalities, and adding more talk-disguised-as-news. They might keep an afternoon news block after the new KBME gets up and going, but there is a good chance "Newsradio 740" will scrap everything other than top of the hour updates. Actual, honest-to-goodness news reporting is expensive, and Clear Channel would rather go as cheaply as possible.
This was funny! The first song listed on thebuzz.com's playlist is: MEXICAN RADIO BY AUTHORITY ZERO hahaha. I thinks theres a conspiracy here.
Z-Rock was on in Houston during the early/mid 90's and played a diet of current hard rock/metal/heavy alternative. There's a similar station in Beaumont that I can pick up every-so-often...106.1 The Big Dog.
Didn't this become "La Zeta"? YASRS (yet-another-Spanish-Radio-Station) Face it... "IT's A LaTiNo WoRLd" GOSH, I want to use "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" right now, but there is just no translation to Spanish... maybe "Todas Sus Bases Son Pertenecen a Nosotros" ??
