KJ has to play .... right?

#Rockets Beverley, Dekker are out tonight. Yes, his last game he had 10 turnovers and was a -25 for the game. With those numbers he clearly is a Rocket.
Maybe if Ariza is out. Otherwise, no. Lawson / Terry Harden / Thornton Brewer / McDaniels TJones / Harrell Howard / Capela
I'm talking about the last game KJ played in on Saturday night with the Vipers. He played 42 minutes, shot 6-15, had 10 turnovers, and was -25 for the game.
D-league games are pick up games. regardless he should be given an opportunity to play especially with how the rockets have started the season.
That is true. We saw the highlights. But to say KJ doesn't belong at RGV is simply not the case. He's way too turnover prone. Not to mention he's going to have to show that he can actually shoot the ball better. Because at the NBA level he isn't good shooting the ball. Some of that being generated because teams close out on him and force him to put the ball on the deck where he becomes a turnover machine. Even though he has some fantastic finishes it those finishes in no wise offset the boatload of turnovers that he craps out on the offensive end.
at this point the rockets dont have much of a choice. If he has to play better than someone like Brewer right now, thats not much.
He won't be handling the ball much with the Rox tho...In RVG he was the main option and best player on the roster...With the Rox James is handling Ty and Thornton as well.. all he has to do is play great defense and run in transition
As bad as Brewer has been, I'd like to think you're right. But Brewer is a vet and he plays the way he always plays. He's a streaky shooter. Probably getting ready for a hot streak. And he is a possession creator, not a possession waster. Brewer's offensive rebounding and steals exceeds his turnovers by a significant 2:1 margin. And that's huge, especially when you're not shooting well. KJ, on the other hand, is basically still a rookie, he's not shooting well either, and at best, he's possession neutral (meaning he turns the ball over just as much as he steals and offensive rebounds it). I'm willing to give KJ a go IF Brewer sucks it again. I think these guys should be on a short string for sure. If they aren't getting it done defensively I think I'd pull them mid game and go searching for answers with guys like McDaniels. But I'm not confident McDaniels is the better player than Brewer at this point.
Hey, listen guys. I wont mind if he gets playing time with the Rockets. The Rockets are short handed, and we have nowhere to go but up. But, let's keep everything in perspective here. KJ has some major flaws in his game. The stat line from his last game with the Vipers shows his weaknesses. But, he also has some strengths. If he can play defense, run the floor, and get some steals. Then maybe he can provide a spark that is badly needed at this time.
And that means his offensive production will fall as well. So not much of a difference from what we've seen in the past. We'll see tonight, I guess he will get more run than I expected due to injuries to Ariza and possibly Harrell. Beverly being out really hurts our backcourt, Dekker is just a body on the bench right now so who cares.
We dnt need KJ's offense...We need his perimeter defense his offensive production is a plus.. he can cause problems with his shot blocking ability... & bev just can't stay on the court...im like dam he just came back from a concussion now an ankle injury... and ariza is getting beat up having to guard these 4's...
I keep saying I want to see McDaniels defending the 1 at the top and running the floor on the wing with Harden. Just want to see what he looks like up top defending on the ball.
Have you seen us play? We need all the help we can get on BOTH sides of the ball. I really do hope KJ provides a spark to our guys but I don't expect him to be a team saviour. Same with D-Mo but that's a different subject for another thread.
agreed his onball defense is A1 he just needs to stay disciplined...he should run alot with Harden and Howard to cover up some his short comings
