My guess has always been D Morey is trying to justify the contract the Rockets gave Brewer. Brewer is a nice guy and practices well with the team....but c'mon man. The only player I've seen Brewer play well the past two years is Shaun Livingston and now Brandon Ingram last night vs the Lakers (12/07/16). Even the announcers were saying finally Brewer found someone that he can over power. Pops shows faith in Jonathan Simmons last season and currently; but Bickerstaff and now D'Antoni fail to play KJ and hold back his maturation process. He could help tremendously come playoff time. I wouldn't suggest trading him if they played him. I would rather set him free to get play on a lesser team. I guess they are trying to build up Brewers trade value....hopefully traded soon.
Remember those backdoor cuts finishing in dunks on assist by Harden. Those were beautiful and effective.
Never watched him carefully but he seemed to always excel against rockets, hitting the key shots, making a right pass, getting an important rebound or defensive play.
Brewer excelled against us also remember. LOL. Ingles is solid. Will always give 100% effort and has a great attitude. But talent wise he's "meh".
KJ is a human highlight show. He got 9-10 Pts a game with Philly with tremendous blocks practically every game. KJ just needs some playing time. Looks to me like coaches want him more disciplined on the defensive end. He is a beast that goes up strong and attacks the rim. Will shoot about 33% from 3 as he did in the summer league and preseason. Given playing time he could build that up to 35+% (3P%) by playoffs. Brewer is what he is....and in the way of progress. I can't see Utah trading Ingles to Houston.
No way KJ should be playing behind Brewer, IMHO. But with that said, he stunk it up last night. I assumed he was trying to hard and probably frustrated from not getting any playing time.
insider ocodman said brewer will be traded soon so there's hope. letting a decent 3m per wing rot on the bench is a very un-morey like thing to do someone needs to hurry the hell up and fall for one of brewer's rare good games. just give us a 2nd rounder or another project pg like ennis.
I can't believe KJ was traded for, only to sit at the end of the bench. Said it on another post that the coaches don't trust KJ and I/we don't trust Brewer. Rockets started using one nice play of Bev diving into the paint and flipping or handing the ball off to Brewer coming from the other direction (from the perimeter). Brewer follows Bev lead blocker/clear out and takes advantage of his length. Hopefully it builds up his trade value. That one trick pony stuff probably won't be there come playoff time. If the Rockets don't start playing KJ soon, send him to a team that will appreciate him.
100% agreed. MY point for resurrecting this thread was just that. He was given 7min (ok it was junk time), but so was Harrell (ok he's been given regular minutes of late) and both Harrell and Dekker have both taken their opportunities whereas KJ didn't last night. Agree 1000% it seems he tried WAY too hard which assuming the coaches wanted to see something from him, he wasted that opportunity. Earlier in the season when he was getting regular minutes, he looked more relaxed and he played well.
I saw the opposite, he didn't seem to be trying at all. No defensive effort on MWP, though I guess he doesn't warrant playing hard D on anymore. He finished weakly on all his drives to the rim, including a two-on-none break where Dekker basically got out of the way to let KJ score and he still botched the layup. Dunk that crap!
Well at least we agree that he stunk it up. Maybe he wasn't trying on defense and trying too hard on offense.
it's crazy because him and Brewer are pretty much identical players. KJ is just superior in my mind. Easy 6ppg just from Harden lobs.
he looked like a bum out there. we had like 3 minutes to get the record and him and Ennis took turns looking like jackasses turning the ball over and ballhogging.
basically he is dis-interested and lost all his confidence.. a.k.a he'a a scub now what he need a d-league assignment
He played so bad he doesn't deserve even garbage time now! He should've taken a page from Montrezl who looks energezied and gives 100% every time he is out there.
KJ is shooting himself right now by blowing his defensive assignment, not sharing the ball on offense. The kid can leap, but basketball wise he is not doing himself a favor. MDA gave him a chance and he blew it. MDAis a good coach in that he knows what pieces work and not. He pulled KJ out and we went back to winning again. So sigh. KJ seems to be a nice kid.
So was KJ the chemistry killer and cancer along with Dwight last seaso ? Too many cancers to list McFail BJJ Dwight KJ McDonalds Terrance _ones Jason Terry Joshua Smith Maybe even Goldilocks
