Lol. KJ is not a scrub. Just because a guy isn't a superstar or scores 20pts a night doesn't mean he's a scrub. KJ has nice attributes he brings. He's athletic, he can finish around the rim, his man defense is great and he plays the passing lanes well. Most his qualities don't show up in box scores but he can play. The fact you mention DMo as the "final piece" like he couldn't be considered a scrub too is comical

KJ isn't playing because "YES" he's a good 1on1 defender BUT he's horrible schematically. Dude wants to play "learn the scheme" is what I have to say

It's no shock that defensive players sit in this system, especially when u can't shoot, but it's mind blowing that Corey Brewer is getting minutes when he is that same player. I can't figure it out. But thought it interesting that D'Antonio immediately started Beverley given his lack of knowledge about how he might contribute as a starter.

fwiw: Brewer is getting 5 mpg less than last year with JBB, and 10 mpg less than with McHale in Brewer's WCF "good year". All while both Bev and DMo are out.

serious question: At what number is the sum of Brewer+KJ's mpg acceptable now that Bev is back, and Dekker is ahead of both in the depth chart, and making a strong case for more minutes. And at what mpg is the sum of Brewer+KJ acceptable once DMo comes back.

    Consider:
    -------------
    Anderson
    Ariza
    Capela
    Bev
    Harden

    Gordon
    Dekker
    DMo
    Nene/Harrell (matchups)

And MDA is unlikely to play a 10-man rotation, once he settles on one ,,, which he says will be sometime in Dec.

Is it mind-blowing that a veteran is used as an injury stop-gap, or that he beat out KJ in that role? I can't figure out the uproar about this.

Given that KJ has had minimal burn time across multiple coaches, I think that in itself should be a fairly clear indicator that there is something KJ is doing wrong behind the scenes.

Agreed. In practice or things we don't notice on the floor. Even when the coaches have sounded optimistic about him they lose interest in him quickly

It's possible that KJ just isn't personally likable and that could be why coaches don't want to play him. It's not a talent issue.

The guy is exciting as hell to watch. He's more of a street baller than a play within a system kind of guy. He seems to have some confidence issues also. I noticed he was really timid during garbage time last night. Bobby "Chuck Everything" Brown made 4 attempts while he made none. Worst thing he can do now is cry about it.

I don't believe that. If Harden didn't like him, he'd be gone in a heart beat lol. And even if he has an attitude, talent & scoring > attitude.

Oh I'm not saying Harden not liking him, I'm saying coaches not liking him. It's clear that he's got more talent and brings more to the team than some of the players they are giving minutes to instead of him, so it has to be something else.

Yeah, this is very true, but i just fear that if you suddenly forget about a young guy who's starting to play well, it can be dangerous and block his development, hope to be wrong at least in this case though.

Everybody on this team is in a "Win the 1st round of Playoffs NOW" mode. Who has time to develop talent. Maybe just the 76ers. Honestly, people in this orig have a lot of pressure to win now.
    1. Harden with fixing his rep
    2. Les with keeping the Rockets exciting to generate revenue
    3. Morley with keeping his job
    4. MDA with proving he's still a good coach
The goal is to win the 1st round of the playoffs. Then everybody can breath a sigh of relief.

You are acting like only one coach has not played him. None of our coaches have given any burn.

What coaches exactly? McFail and BJ? Lul, they were more cheerleaders than actual coaches...and even if i'm not a fan of D'Antoni, at least he is a real coach, and he did play KJ for good minutes and also put him in the starting lineup, a lot more than McHale and JB ever did.

That said, i've zero problems with KJ not playing, and i understand we may want to showcase Brewer, i just hope this doesn't burn his development since it was going pretty well.

You can call them whatever, but I would still wager they know far more about the game of basketball than either of us.

Well, i guess that's right, but my original point still remains, i just hope this isn't going to hurt his development. You may not care about this, but i do -> at least until he's a Houston Rocket.

And that's ok...just, why play Brewer if you want to win though? This doesn't make sense as today.
