If Bonzi plays, I'll take our trio over any trio. If Bonzi plays, there are no depth issues. You will have Bonzi, Juwan Howard, Luther Head and Kirk Snyder off the bench. They can start for a lot of teams. That is not bad at all.
i am thinking more like: Alston/Head TMac/Snyder Battier/Wells/Novak Howard/Hayes Yao/Mutombo Hayes needs to ride the bench for just a lil'... he is not as effective now as before. Also, Head will have to play the 1 some when Snyder gets back...
Fixed. The Mavs off-season additions have largely been a disappointment. They were deeper the last couple of years, in my opinion, but this year not so much.
We're 6-8 against the West but T-Mac has missed our last 4 games, all against Western conference foes. Now, we lost to Golden State once and the Lakers twice. Against Golden State we lost on baron's 3-pointer. Against the Lakers, we went to double overtmie once. Realistically, this team could be 7-7 with T-Mac healthy. The idea is that if we can't beat Western teams, then come playoff time, we are going to face only Western teams in the playoffs and we're doomed. But no one expects to win a series without T-Mac anyway. So this team WITH T-mac basically is .500 against the West, and kicking the East's ass. Considering the quality of competition this season, I'm fine with that. The record is great, and absolutely no one can deny that barring a loooong lay-off for T-Mac, it is WAYYY more likely to improve than to get worse. 1) Bonzi's back. 2) T-Mac's coming back 3) Sura might come back 4) Snyder will be back in a couple of weeks There's just a lot to look forward to. Almost everything has gone wrong so far. T-Mac HAS gone down. Bonzi HAS clashed with the coach. Rafer HAS been inconsistent. Sura IS still out and we have no decent backup PG. Snyder IS out with a broken hand. We HAVE already played a buttload of the games which were considered difficult in our schedule. I don't CARE if the Mavs and Heat sucked because those games are W's and nothing will change that. Still, we're 15-9. We have the least losses at home in the league. Only Minnesota and Philly have played less games at home than the Rockets in the entire league. Me? I'm ecstatic.
Have to agree, Rockets lack depth all over the floor, except at two, we have a few options with T-mac, Bonzi, Snider, Head, V-span and Sura. We have not depth whatsoever at the other positions. But, if all our wing players are healthy we should be potent.
You do realize, we were in position to win every one of those games? and thats the point. despite being a negative ned, you said yourself that the rockets were in position to win, without tmac.n Sure, it stinks that they let 2 games slip through their fingers and sure it sucks that they lost, but knowing that the rockets did control those games for the vast majority is much more reassuring than if they got blown out. i understand everything is not peaches and cream, but lets not confuse pessimism with being realistic. Realistically, the rockets have only scratched the surface of the teams potential also, as for saying deke, rafer, JVG cannot win a championship....well thats fine if thats your opinion but lets not try to pass that off as a fact. jvg hate...fine, who doesnt? its the 'in' thing. rafer hate...fine, he's an easy target especially when you see his shooting deke hate...???. thats a new one. but when you start pointing to deke as a reason the rockets wont do good, then i think you are reaching
Exactly!!! When Bonzi is scoring in the upper teens we will be very difficult to beat. When Mc Grady comes back he should play within his limitations. I think it would be better to have him scoring 12-15 points and getting 10+ assists and being in the game at the vital times and for most of the season rather than getting injured every 5 or 6 weeks. Between Bonzi and T Mac we would expect 30 pts/game.
saw that coming a mile away. do me a favor - check and see how many teams this year hhave given up large leads in multiple games this season.... practically every damn team in the league has, and will continue to do so. that's the nature of the nba - fast paced, quick swings of momentum, huge comebacks. to act like the rockets are the only team in the league to do this is ignorant. and if dallas is so incredibley more talented than us, how in the hell did we wipe the floor with them??? why do you give them the benefit of the doubt and not the rockets?
Good point on Snyder. With the Bonzi drama and all the focus on Tmac's health, he's gotten lost in the mix. Dare I say Snyder may have put us over the top on at least one of the close heartbreaking losses. I see our role players in two groups: 3 point shooters and hustle players. Great stuff, but without Bonzi and Tmac, we need at least one guy who's a decent penetrating threat. Otherwise it just looks like Yao in the middle and four guys revolving around the perimeter. The only penetration is from Yao posting up and passing to a slasher. A little too one-dimensional for me. Snyder can do that job, and he doesn't even need to do it often. Another thing: everyone expects Miami to be a contender when Shaq comes back. I don't feel that strongly, but w/ Shaq out it has exposed how reliant that team is on Wade and Shaq. They have a great supporting cast but they are only good enough to support. I think we may be similar w/ Tmac out. And in both cases, Yao and Wade are the number one options and expected to score 25+ now. Shaq and Tmac are second options and their respective teams don't need them to score 20+ every game.
