I really like his game also, even though he hasnt played a lot recently with Yaos' dominance. He gives off a fearless attitude once u see him on the court, cause he just drives the lane to the bucket with no regard of anything. And he doesnt talk much which makes him even more scarier.
Snyder deserves some more respect, another Hayes type player who is very athletic and plays with GREAT tenacity on both ends. Hes not a player as smart as Hayes though IMO. And currently his offensive skills are not enough to anchor him a starting spot, but he certainly deserves every minute of his PT. If Bonzi doesn't work out, Snyder is our option for starting then.
Snyder's doing well off the bench. He's got a big, strong body..and he's also athletic. He tries to run fast breaks, so that's always nice if we get the opportunity. He is a good defensive player..probably improving under JVG. His perimeter shot is inconsistent, but I think he's fine. It's not about stats for him. He does a lot of things that don't get recorded. I think he's also an enforcer too. He also makes some good passes, (including some to Yao )
Kirk is one tough Customer although i have to say that his shot was is ugly as hell (did you guys catch that hurried three against the heat) i almost fell out of my chair laughing but his constant attacks to the basket and drawing fouls, and even dishing out to an open person is invaluable to the team Tmac cannot get to the rim as easily as he use to, and even if he could, constantly driving to the basket is going to wear him out I am just happy that we have such a good penetrator and finisher around the basket to support the team and vary the offence I remember one of the biggest weaknesses last year and the year before was that other than tmac, no one else could drive/slash but now we do have someone
he's in the rotation and playing in the 4th quarter that is all you need to know about how he is doing
Need to talk of trading Novak and Spanoulis too then if that's the case. Van Gundy put Hayes in as the 5th starter and Snyder is going in off the bench. Simple as that.
y would u hav high expectation on him is beyond me. if hes any good, the hornets won't be giving him away. the truth is hes performing better than most ppl is expecting. his shot sucks and i fully expect that. but his penetration and defense is good! no way should u trade him
The 2nd component to attacking the hole is making your free throws. He and tmac need to practice those charity Js. Thats my only thing with snyder, he needs to become Yao like in his fts.
Kirk already has my love. He is just fine. If needed, he will just find his way to the hole. He is the type of player that we lack in the last season.
there's absolutely no way we should be looking at trading him. he comes with defense, the occasional offensive boost, and good athleticism, and also he comes CHEAP. I dont think we'd attract equal value in trade. He'll have a solid year.
kirk snyder is money on the defensive end. however, it looks like he's still adjusting to being on a new team on the offensive side of the court. the dumpoff to yao, cut into the lane, pass back to kirk for the slam is an effective play, but that is about all i have seen from snyder on offense. he seems to have a knack for offensive fouls -- the ball will swing around to him to the weak side, about 18 feet from the basket. but then there always seems to be that slight moment of hesitation from him. hopefully with time he will either have the confidence to knock that shot down or take it to the basket right away before the defense can react. all in all, still a steal from the hornets. imagine how deep new orleans would be with both kirk snyder and j.r. smith coming off the bench with CP3, peja, mason, west, and chandler starting. yipes.
OMG a guy we got basically for free isn't averaging 10 and 5?!?! Off with his head! Seriously, Kirk is doing a fine job of filling his role. He has struggled a bit with his shot, but he's shown over the last two seasons that he will eventually balance that out. He's been pretty effective on defense, which is something that doesn't always show up in the box score or highlights. I'm more than happy with Kirk right now and I believe that IF he needed to be the 3rd scoring option at some point (due to injuries) that he could be about a 12ppg kind of guy. On a side note, I loved that block he had against the Heat when he pinned it against the glass. Got called for goal tending but it looked like a bad call to me.
