Reid helped counter Magic Johnson's size, otherwise he would've been a PG his entire career. No way could he hang with smaller guards - hell DJ shut him down in the Finals from what I recall (?). Reid also had a jumper you had to respect and a brain that had more than 1 or 2 neurons firing at any given time.

I've seen Kirk make some nutty decisions on the court, but haven't watched him closely enough to see if his athleticschism (hey Stro!) makes up for his IQ at times on the court. From what I've seen, he seems more like the player you just throw the ball up and say "go get it" or point at the goal and say "dunk it". He's not as dumb as Stro appeared to be, so uh, I guess that's a plus.

I'm serious, if Snyder is our point guard, I'd rather we release him. He is one of the dumbest/selfishest players I've ever seen. I didn't like him even when he was with the Jazz, and especially after he danced in front of our bench after making a layup.

Snyder does nothing for the team but adding some athleticism.

He drives to the basket more than any of our other guys, sometimes it's reckless, but it is a change of pace for the team... And he's ok defensively.

    Bingo.

Snyder is a space cadet out there. He seems like a nice enough guy, and lately he's been putting out pretty good effort, but he's not a smart basketball player. I cringed watching him rotate off of Tim Thomas last night.

Playing a guy who's not a smart basketball player to begin with at the point guard is a recipe for trouble.

    Hey now, don't forget.

    Snyder was McGrady at Nevada.

he doesn't seem very comfortable handling the ball at all. on fast breaks he's usually dribbling the ball too high and has to look down at it when switching hands.

Haha I love this guy's self-confidence. Would love to see him play point just for 1 game.

Another thread shows how desperate we are at PG position, JVG said it is not his idea to get Vspan, he is right.

I'm all for Snyder guarding opposing PGs. Does that count?

OH MY GOD NO! The point guard is like a quarterback. I can only imagine the classic things that could happen. JVG would kill himself.

Also bringing the ball up would be the least of our problems with him at the point.

the way some of you guys are talking about snyder's flaws as a ballhandler makes it seem like luther doesn't have EXACTLY the same problems. don't even pretend and say luther hanldes ball pressure better than snyder, because luther sucks at that. don't pretend that luther 'runs the offense' because all he does is try to get the ball across halfcourt and then get rid of the ball to tmac as quick as is humanly possible.

i think snyder is capable of doing the same thing, except he has the advantage of being taller and thus IN THEORY should not suffer the same problem that luther has with being trapped before half-court by his man and a taller player, not being able to see over EITHER of them, picking up his dribble, and throwing a horrible pass that either sails out of bounds or into the other team's hands.

everyone shooting down the idea of snyder at the 1 for the sparse 5-6 minutes that he would even need to bring the ball up the court, please answer this for me: are you happy when you see luther head running point? would you not rather see us at least TRY one of the other guys? and this isn't like asking van gundy to play V-Span. This is asking van gundy to let a guy who is already on the court anyway to handle the ball instead of luther. snyder and luther are usually on the court at the same time. its not taking minutes away from luther, its not taking minutes away from anybody. if snyder runs point for those 5 minutes that he needs to, and he sucks at it, then i'll have no legitimate complaint. as the facts are now, we've seen luther at point, we've seen that he is awful at it; at least give snyder a shot. luther head as a point guard will be a HUGE problem in the playoffs.
