That is interesting, because they replayed at leat 3 times how Peeler elbowed KG in the stomach first. Then they played at least half a dozen times how KG rataliated with a blow to Peeler's chest and got elbowed on the chin. Three hits. Peeler did the 1st and 3rd.
I don't believe that Peeler's elbow to Garnett's midsection was unsportsmanlike; I'm not even certain that it was intentional. I do believe that Garnett's shot to Peeler was intentional, and I also believe that the only reason that Peeler's second elbow to Garnett looked more severe than Garnett's elbow to Peeler is because Peeler is 6'5", while Garnett is 7'0", so Garnett didn't have to swing up to hit Peeler the way that Peeler had to swing up to hit him. I think that if they were both the same height, they would have both been suspended.
For the second time, yes, I saw the game live. Peeler's first elbow (the one to the midsection) didn't look intentional to me.
Kings’ Peeler Suspended for Game 6 Actions NEW YORK, May 17 – Sacramento Kings guard Anthony Peeler has been suspended for two games without pay for throwing elbows to Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett’s midsection and head, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Senior Vice President Basketball Operations. Peeler’s elbow to Garnett’s midsection occurred with 31.2 seconds remaining in the third period of the Kings’ 104-87 win over the Timberwolves on May 16 at ARCO Arena. Peeler’s elbow to Garnett’s head occurred with 13.5 seconds remaining in the third period. Garnett was fined $7,500 for throwing an elbow into Peeler’s chest with 13.5 seconds remaining in the third period. Peeler will serve the first game of his suspension during Game 7 of the Kings-Timberwolves series. He will then either miss Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals or the first game of the 2004-05 regular season, depending on the outcome of Game 7. http://www.nba.com/news/peeler_040517.html
My call for tonight: -Wolves go down with Kings blowing the game open in the 4th. -Sam loses the PG battle badly since he's hurt and the Kings will likely ask Bibby push the tempo and drive as much as possible. -KG has a monster game, but will be limited in the last quarter. Evan
Kings fouled Cassell intentionally. Dumb play. Cassell hits his free throw under pressure. Yep, he hit them both. 16 seconds left
this might be the better chance of beating Fakers. Minny has the home court advantage. Kings played like sh*t lately, they would have no chance of beating Fakers, not to mention Fakers would have home court advantage.
The Queens were so horrible tonight that for a second I thought that I was watching the Sacramento Rockets playing: rushing shots, stupid TOs at crucial moments, missing layups at crucial moments......You name them. The Queens should really play in WNBA. The whole team are made of wussies: Webber is a proven wussy, Peja is not far behind, and now Miller. Even Bibby has officially turned to be a wussy tonight. All of them need to grow at least 12 pairs. KG is made a stud against the Queens. Now in two weeks, he will be #1 wussy thanks to Shaq/Karla.
kevin F'ing garnett! that was amazing. 32 points, 21 rebounds, 5 blocks and at least 4 steals. scored 13 straight for minny at one point in the 4th (including a 3 with the shot clock running down) and played amazing defense. left it all out on the court tonight and showed that he is the best player in the league now and that he deserved every bit of that mvp trophy. damn that was dominant. peja just plain blew, and has in several games this series. he's also done poorly in past playoffs. bibby never did much after they switched spree onto him after game 1 or 2. webber played well in this game and damn near hit that 3 with kg pestering him and somehow christie was hitting big shots. i didn't really wanna see either team lose but i probably was leaning toward wanting minnesota to win. they tried to blow a 9 point lead with 2 minutes to go, thanks to cassell turning it over and fouling, etc. great series.
Gotta give MN their props. I didn't think they'd do it, but they proved me wrong. They seem to be playing just well enough to win right now, but that's all you need. Peja was awful. Good God. He missed at LEAST 2 lay-ups.
Since Webber return, Peja never found his rhythm, he certainly from their go to guy, focal point of offense back to a shooter. It is really hard to adjust. But he seem never had a great playoff performance, that is true.
Mad props to Min... Everyone doubted them, good job mchale, flip and KG they traded a retired pg and some other scrubs for Spreewell and Cassel, its moves like these that take teams to the top, not Clarence weatherspoon for Moochie trades... Im rooting for the Wolves to go all the way.
I think the LA-SA series proved that the court or the number of games down do not matter until there is a team with a "4" in win column. 'Sota in 6.
They've had it in all the nba final series, and had it in 2001 cept in the WCF and didnt have in in the WCF in 2002 and this year in the semis. But as you know it took a lot in 2002, an horry miracle, the infamous game 6 calls.... Last year the wolves were really close to winnig both in LA but lost game 4 but a narrow margin. And then the lakers lost later to the spurs This year it took another miracle for them to win game 5 against the spurs So far in the playoffs this year they are 2-3 on the road with the two victories being a one point miracle and a overtime win. They clearly not the same team on the road and it shows. I think it means a lot not having home court for them because the three most important games in a 7 game series (1,5,7) will all be on the road for them
