When you're not a big timer like dwight, you don't worry as much about winning as securing your financial future. $26M and Landry would leave for the bobcats, his future is locked up for good now.Congrats man, awesome guy, will never forget that block vs Utah.
Let's see, Landry played out of his mind with the Rockets Played like CRAP and was misused in Sactown Plays great with CP3 and goes on to play well with GS.
Are the Kings just cycling through former Rockets PFs or what? Landry, Chuck, Patterson, now Landry again? WTF? I guess they'll get Marcus Morris, Terrence Jones, DMo, Greg Smith, etc. in due time.
Probably because the Kings offered him the most money. Remember, Carl Landry is 30 years old. This is probably his last chance at a big contract and he never really had a big long-term contract so far. He's not exactly a guy in a position to take a pay cut just to go to a better team. The Kings have a lot of relatively experienced mid-level PFs now: Jason Thompson, Chuck Hayes, Patrick Patterson and now Carl Landry. They also have a new owner, new GM and new coach (former Warriors lead assistant Mike Malone, who probably put in a good word for Landry). I bet they are planning on some sort of house cleaning. So some or all of their current PFs are likely on the market, along with a bunch of their other carry-over players brought in by the prior regime. Some good shopping opportunities for other teams there.
Because he has been underpaid his entire career. Time to get that contract. Happy for him. I always liked him
I still don't get this signing by the Kings, why sign Carl to a contract like that only to bury him on the bench. The guy is shooting 50%, 11 rebounds per 48 minutes and he's getting 13 minutes a game. I get he's just come back from the injury but he looks good enough to play.
On the plus side, it probably means next year they'll trade us the stretch 4 we need plus first round picks for either Asik or Lin, because that's just how Sactown does things.
I think Landry is still recovering from his injury and is in preseason mode now. The Kings signing him makes some sense. Their head coach Michael Malone was the lead assistant at Golden State last season and Landry played well for Golden State. So, Landry should be at least familiar with the plays used by the Kings. The injury just really derailed any hope of Landry contributing at this point of the season.
