I'd want Thompson, no use for the other 2, though I'd take Dalembert but not for Brooks.

Shaq had 23.4 pts and 13.9 rebounds average as a rookie. He was also responsible for a 20 game turnaround in Orlando and was the first rookie to be voted to the all star game since Jordan.

Cousin's can't even reach Dwight Howard level of greatness, much less the MDE.

I think RedRedemption was being sarcastic.

Did anybody expect the Kings to be so bad with Tyreke Evans and Demarcus Cousins, though?

They have the worst record in the league with only 6 wins for the season.
I thought their record would be better than the Timberwolves and Nets, at least.

last year they had martin for half a season. he wasnt a great fit with evans (as evans is more of a SG also) but having a second 20ppg scorer helps a lot.

this season its all evans with no real scoring help. cousins looks like a nice young center but isn't ready to be a go to guy just yet. if he develops into one they will be pretty good, but i wouldn't count on him maturing anytime soon.

Anything for Cousins. That guy can play.

I didn't think the Kings would necessarily crash and burn so spectacularly, but they don't surprise me much. Westphal lost control of the team last season and I figured Cousins would help kill what little chemistry the team had.

Agreed. When the end of last season became more about Tyreke Evans getting his 20-5-5 averages than about winning basketball games, I knew that Westphal had lost that team. I also knew all I needed to know about Evans and his ability to lead a team. Adding Cousins to that mix was a recipe for disaster.

They are going to have to WAYYY overpay free agents to get them to leave better teams for Sacramento.

Let's just hope Aaron Brooks isn't one of those guys.

    ANYTHING?

    O_O

I'd rather go for Samuel Dalembert. By the time Cousins gets into his prime, the Rockets team would be FARRRRRRRRRR into another era (thats probably a rebuilding one)

you'd like to order an aging producing nutcase who blows your young guns into pieces while getting 50 techs a season?

Wonder if Mario Elie will finally get a shot at landing a head coach job if Westphal gets the axe. Probably not, if done in midseason he may be named interim, but in the offseason Kings will go for a higher profile coach, provided that the Kings stay the course of sucking. Just thinking aloud.

I think its a big blessing in disguise that they are losing right now. All they need (and Maloof stressed on this) is a extremely high draft pick and they are going to get it. If Adelman was in Westphal's position right now he'd make the Kings fringe playoff contenders and the King's would end up with just a pick around 8-12. Which one is the smarter choice?

Right. But they will get a pick (just like they did Tyreke and Big Cuz), and it will just add to the immaturity level of the squad.

Someone needs to uh, take some of their little peons off their hands for them.

I think people forget how good Shaq was. He posted better numbers than Dream during their head to head in his second season in the league.

This. The Kings have been in the lottery for four straight seasons (going on five), and only have the following to show for it:

    2010: DeMarcus Cousins (#5 overall)
2009: Tyreke Evans (#4 overall, with the worst record overall, mind you)
    2008: Jason Thompson (#12 overall)
2007: Spencer Hawes (#10 overall, since traded for Dalembert)

Honestly, the Kings need a guy like Shane Battier more than they need another high lottery pick. Evans and Cousins is enough elite talent for them to win. What they need now are "winning players", not more young talent.

Not sure why people keep putting Scola in trade options. Les told Morey that he was keeping Scola no matter what this last offseason....what makes you think he is going to trade him away all of a sudden?

Completely disagree. The kings should have sucked more so they could have ended up with either durant, rose, griffin, or wall. It took the thunder 3 years after durant to be decent.

    Was this comment tongue-in-cheek? I can't tell.

Dude, the Kings had far and away the worst record in the league in 2009, yet they "only" managed the #4 pick. They're a perfect example of when tanking goes horribly wrong. They're just lucky that Evans turned out to have a great rookie season.
