Not the best player in the world. But he certainly fit right in between AB and Ariza. Ability to score in a variety of ways, and not just by chucking shots up. Can't see much of his passing ability but when you are that good at scoring, people tend to D up real tight which will give more space to others. With RA, the team play alot of team ball, instead of relying on 1 player to create for others. So he fit right in to the system. Only concern for me is defense. Rox used to be able to depend on a huge 7 footer in the middle as the last line of defense. Either yao or deke. With both of them gone, and the best shot blocker is a Shane Battier? I really shudder to to think of the back court defense.
the warriors once again had a dominant offense. So probably not the best evidence. Their defense was suspect as usual and certainly baron was a leadership factor. I don't think anyone in favor of acquiring Martin expects him to improve the teams defense or be the superstar leader o the team. He is what he is, which is a great offensive player who, frankly, is fairly paid. The length of his contract is a concern but he is young and not overpaid. That's how you would want to build a team.
Jayz, that's what I am saying. He had his worse yr last yr and he still shot 42% from 3 and went to the line 10 times a night. He just made 26. How come he wouldn't be part of a rebuild? His salary is good, age is ripe, and production top shelf.
I don't think the guy would be a bad addition to the rockets...obviously we need scoring. He just isn't as great as many describe him as. He is as one dimensional as a player can get. He's just above Mike Miller (who isn't as good at getting to the line but a much better passer and rebounder). EDIT:Actually, I can't justify Martin being better than Miller considering he isn't a much less efficient scorer and that he brings other things to the table.
in a heartbeat. I'd trade two of lowry, landry and battier for him easily. Brooks I'd have to think about because I think Aaron is going to be a star at the PG position with his speed, quickness and scoring ability.
I'm pretty much with you. I think Brooks is a gem in the rough...and uniquely so. In a league of great PGs, if you have one that can make the others play defense and even though Brooks isn't quite as good as them, he has something about him that I think makes him a special attribute in a playoff series. But other than him, you'd trade any reasonable combination of players to get someone like Kevin Martin.
The Kings don't need another 3 or 4. They have 6 players who play SF and 7 who can play PF. Udrih, Rodriguez Martin, Evans Garcia, Nocioni, Casspi, Greene Thompson, Brockman, May, Thomas Hawes Petrie is supposedly high on Broks. He might be the price that has to be paid for a trade to get done. The Rockets thought he could be replaced by the top 4-5 PGs in this draft. Lance Zierlein commented how the Rockets had two backup ones. I'm not sure if that was his own opinion or something he heard.
