i don't know. earlier in the season it wasn't, but lately it is. i don't get to see them much but the last 3 or so games it has not been good. they don't have the effort they need, and without bynum they don't have the inside presence. which is why i think it's crazy that people think they're the favorite without any idea of how bynum will be. if he's completely healthy, i can see them being the favorites. without him? they get beat on the boards and don't block shots. they've beaten a lot of weak teams during this run (i know we complain about the same statement, but it's still mostly true) and have mostly just been overwhelming teams with their offense (which is as good as advertised with gasol in there). i know they just beat down the clippers by 37 and anyone can have an off game, but with their D and rebounding as it currently is, they are not the favorites over the spurs and i could see the mavs or suns beating them (though the suns would have problems). really, the jazz could beat them as well. too many people will think they're the favorites going into the playoffs if they keep winning with O, but i don't think they will be and this game is another reason why.
oh, and the lakers announcers are really good. they get excited and into the game but as others have said, can be very complimentary of the other team. same way bill and calvin used to be. obviously rockets fans but fans of good play and good players in general.
Lakers's TV broadcasters are Joel Myer and Stu Lantz (a former SD Rocket guard). Their radio duo of Spero Dedes and Mychal Thompson (a 13-yr NBA veteran) as just as impartial as the TV team
Damn Fakers lost to a scrub. And many are underestimating our winning streak because we beat weak teams.
T-Mac finds a Steve Novak he couldn't even see for the last second shot to ice the Kings while Kobe took the last shot to no avail against the same Kings. I gotta love the comparison right now. Team-Mac and his swashbuckling band of overachievers in a race against the nouveau blue-blood Lakers, frontrunners to have the silver platter simply handed over to them...
I don't know where you find these "gracious" Lakers fans. Every one I met was pretty snobbish. The whole Lakers organization, from the top to the fans, has a sense of entitlement. They think whole reason for the rest of the league to exist is just to feed the Lakers pride.
Mychal Thompson is very biased. Dedes is okay. The only person associated with the Lakers I liked was Chick Hearn.
Hard for them not to after Stern approved that Gasol trade. Same with The Celtics. All the analysts say that its "good for the league" for Boston and the Lakers to be great again. So, expect Stern to step in and do something to improve The Knicks soon, like he did with Ewing way back when.

Mychal Thompson said himself on Loose Cannons that the Rockets streak (at 16 on wednesday) was insignificant because T-Mac hasn't done it when it counts-the playoffs. He essentially said that the Rockets are in the discussion every year and that they never go anywhere when it counts. then his team gets beat by the likes of Portland or the Kings, and conveniently forgets what the Lakers have done since they failed in the 2004 Finals- absolutely nothing! as far as fans out in LA- sure, I have a decent basketball conversation every once in a while with a Lakers fan; but most of the time, the scenario that happened to me over the weekend occurs: I was walking around West LA with my T-Mac jersey and my Rockets hat, getting ready for a big matchup against the Hornets, when a driver of an automobile drives by and shouts "Rockets Suck!" I smiled big and told my girlfriend it was too bad his team lost to the Blazers... his team lost the next night to the Kings the Lakers fans can best be compared to Yankees fans- entitled, spoiled brats whose teams are always picked to win because its a cop-out, an easy pick.
Exactly. The Lakers just assume that they can grab any good players they want just because they are the Lakers. If someone developed on another team, they believe that after the contract, the player will defect to the Lakers. The whole league is the farm system for them. They are above everybody. This is why I hate the Lakers sooooo much.
you're wrong. if what you claim is true, ===>the Lakers would have easitly gotten KG, their first choice. ===>the Lakers would have gotten better player in return for Shaq not minnesota sour grape
