I will miss the show, but at least we have 13 seasons of reruns.

King of the Hill is the best show from and about Texas ever...

Even though Khan, Minh and Khan Junior were voiced by white actors for a long running TV show its had the most realistic depiction of an Asian American family too.

Hank Hill and company will be missed.

They weren't renewed another time as well and then brought back. THERE IS HOPE!

The falconer side story with Dale is one of my favorite stories in a tv show ever.

    It started in 1997 - 2008-9
    97 - 09 = 12 yrs

Show biz math makes my head hurt

I like the show .. i cannot say i watched it religiously
but when I watched it . . i was entertained
kind of like Married with Children
    not in terms of content
but in the way i view them

    really?
    I honestly did not know. . .
    I always loved Khan
One of my favorite shows was when he went 'redneck' and quit his job
and asked his wife to be his Hillbillie wife

Honestly, I can't believe it's lasted this long. It's by far the most mediocre of the modern 'Prime Time' cartoons. I can guess why it's being cut: The new Family Guy spinoff, Cleveland.

Please, King of the Hill is a much higher quality show than Family Guy, much less any Family Guy spinoffs.

It's not typical cartoon humor. It lasted long because it was relatively inexpensive to make, never promoted at all, and yet still had a loyal fan base and decent sponsorship.

You can call it mediocre and you're entitled to your opinion, but I'll just say it's a different kind of show with a lot of fans who really love it. It's a great show. It's more of a live action comedy with dramatic elements. The depth of the character development is deeper than any other cartoon out there. And the understanding of the nuances of culture, especially Texas culture, is top notch.

One problem is that there are very few Asian American families and most depictions of Asian Americans are Sandra Oh or Lucy Liu (sexpots) on TV. Khan isn't a Laotian name and even though I don't know Laotian I suspect most of the Laotian they spoke was fake as an Asian American their family struck me as being much more realistic than most anything I've seen on regular TV. While they did embrace the stereotype of the over achieving Asians they dealt well with why Khan had to be an over achiever in a way that made sense. I particularly like when he lost his job and he explained how being Asian he had the weight of expectations on him to do better. So even while there was very little that could be said to be authentic Asian culture about the Sousanouphenphones. As characters they struck me as authentic and their were plenty of times they acted and did things that I've seen my family and other Asian American familes do, down to the bad karaoke.

Also the other thing that was great about Khan was, pardon the pun, never a cartoon. He was a fully developed character who could be annoying and sympathetic. Mike Judge could've easily settled and made Khan the annoying and unintelligible Oriental neighbor like Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's but instead he was probably the most developed character outside of the Hills themselve.

Man, I LOVE this show. One of my favorites, bar none.

A friend of mine told me a while back how King of the Hill was going to end. According to him, Dale finds out Joseph is not his son. Then, he goes off and works for the IRS.

    He lied. I believed him.

Lauren Tom who voices Khan Jr and Minh is asian, or at least half. She also voiced Amy on Futurama.

    Thanks
    I appreciate the explaination

When I watched I thought of him as the Asian George Jefferson
[for the younger folx. . . The Jeffersons is a spinoff of All in the Family]
George vs Archie was classic TV

I thought Khan and Hank that kind of relationship
    but
not as adversarial [but still Adversarial]

Odd... I thought completely differently. Hank really didn't press the issue as much as Khan did. I mean Christ, he just came out and called them all redneck hillbillies. lol. Hank usually just took it in stride and went back at him every-so-often. Archie and George were out for blood.

which is why Khan and Hank were a bit more mild
It was closer to grumpy neighbors than the wars that George and Archie had

    Rocket River
