Kind of sad when you think about it

Is he the worst FT shooting PG in the league?

I agree with those who believe that shooting is the one skill that can be taught and can improve by practice. You can't learn to be a great shooter. That's innate talent. But anyone who has the athletic ability to be an NBA player should be able to be a decent shooter if he put his mind in it.

If Rondo was a good shooter, he would be the best PG in the game hands down.

Even so I don't feel sad or sorry for him. He is a Top 5 PG.

    That's his strength.

People on this particular thread hating on Rondo needs to look at what he does well, versus what he doesn't do well.

If Rondo wasn't as efficient as he is, he probably wouldn't have gotten a triple double, and the Celtics probably would have lost.

    Well, look at the facts.

Not only are you on a team with Ray Allen, but you're also on a team with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce - the latter of whom needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Realistically, Allen / KG / Pierce are the first options on offense, while Rondo is just the facilitator.

If Rondo was the primary option for offense, I'm sure Rondo would be more inclined to work on his jumper. However, his niche is to set people up and to penetrate, to get easy high percentage shots.

Just look at the situation. It's "kind of sad" that Steve Nash isn't scoring 25-30 a night. We all know he could, but his job is to facilitate.

Who is hating? We are just pointing out the most glaring hole in his game. If he fixed that hole, he would become one of the greatest PGs in history because every other part of his game is great.

Imagine how much more he could drive to the hoop if he had the threat of nailing a jumper when the defender set off of him?

Not an excuse. John Stockton came into the league without a great jumper (albeit better than Rondo's to be sure), but he ended up posting six 50% FG/40% 3PT seasons. And he averaged just over 9 FGA/gm for his career.
