My problem is that almost every fight Kimbo takes should have a giant asterisk next to it. Yeah, it's cool to say that you beat Mercer, Abbott, and Shamrock...but to do it two decades after they really mattered is a weak move. I personally think that Lesnar should have fought a little less competition to start out, but I honestly get the vibe from him that he would be willing to fight anybody, anywhere.

You don't know MMA. That was two of the biggest trash talkers building up a fight (and then the follow up). Marketing bro. Same reason why Tito is an average fighter at best but wil still be in the top 5 in PPV buys. Dana handed him to Machida to put a name on his record as Tito was on his way out. Why will Frank and Ken Shamrock fight next year?

Dude, Kimbo is just starting out. He's a rookie, not some 10 year vet. So what if he isn't fighting the top fighters in his first matches. Kimbo is practically new to the sport and is being smart by taking fights that he can handle at the moment.
Get some wins, gain some confidence and experience.

I don't have a problem with him fighting someone on his level or as inexperienced as him...but for the love of God quit beating up 50 year old men on TV. Why not fight another up and coming prospect who is as hungry and still fighting on a regular basis. When was Abbot's or Mercer's last fight before Kimbo.

It is a weak move bro.

I just want to see him against another hungry fighter near his prime who is hungry and ready for a fight.

They probably will after he gets some real experience -- you saw what happened to Lesnar when he went after an experienced opponent too early.

    Got himself a loss.

I don't think they'll even be able to put him in with a top tier guy like that until they're ready to cash out on him. Think of it like this, he's been training with Bas for two years and still has no basic ground game. I believe he's 36 years old. While older fighter can be very successful in MMA I just don't se it for Kimbo. They took him off the streets (I mean he lost to that police office gannon who got destroyed in the UFC). Most guys at least have a college background in wrestling and develop ground skills from there. I don't think Kimbo makes it past Brett Rodgers next if he does beat Shamrock (who is saying he is going to break his leg). That's probably not wanted what Elite EX wanted to hear as Shamrock's pride has not allowed him to take anyone to the ground in like 5 years.
