In the first of a growing trend, management has decided to build a team comprised of sons of former NBA players and professional athletes. By the time they are finished, our roster will look like this:

    Brent Barry
    Jon Barry
    Grant Hill
    Mike Dunleavy, Jr.
    Luke Walton
    Kobe Bryant
    Mike Bibby
4 others who I can't think of right now

and for honorable mention, out of retirement, David Robinson, because Hakeem was his daddy.

    Not a bad team, actually.

i think he is gonna find minutes behind jj and tmac. look for him to get 12-20MPG for us. he will be a big part of our rotation.

he is a spark for sure even at his age. he might be the heart we need to start playing like we NEED to win.

this was probably offered to us by the hawks. i don't believe this reveals any future plans that we have. although i do hope one of the PF's are moved soon.

Man, we've sure got a lot of guys on this team who don't know their role. That seems kind of odd, especially on a mostly veteran team.

Hmmm... I wonder why that is... whose fault could that possibly be?

Sad but true we need 3-5 new players. I'm watching NBA-TV and I feel like what one of the announcers just said, that the Rockets are playing 2 guys against 5.

Lots of people have mentioned the shooting, but he's also a good passer and playmaker. Although, he's also a little out of control and turnover prone.

The problem is that they don't know what roll they're suppose to be playing. JVG puts players in and yanks them out in a heart beat. Some players play and then don't play for 5 games (Padgett, Barrett, Spoon, etc...)

It's kind of hard to get into rythm with your teamates and play right when there is no consistency with the rotation. How does JVG excpect guys like Padgett, Boki, Barrett to come out and play well when they play every 5 games?

role players are what we need and we got it. i think the most exciting part of this trade is... hoping they trade one of our pfs.

Good trade. I echo another early poster's comment that I wanted Barry when the Rockets acquired Pike. Barry plays hard-nosed basketball... he is the player with floor burns and a pissed off glare at the officials. Just what this team needs.

He also is a good shooter. Folks automatically pull out the 3pt shooting perecentage, but the Rockets need guys that hit the midrange jumper (sad to say, but MoT is the team's best midrange shooter... and he has struggled even there this season). Plus Barry moves the ball quickly... again, I like the move, especially since Lue hasn't contributed much at all (his primary contribution is quickness on offense and that's wasted here).

With everyone focusing on Jon Barry's shooting, I think the thing that is being overlooked here is Barry's vision, he has excellent passing skills. Without playing one game he is already our third best passer after T-Mac and Barrett.

I do think he is a bit old for this team, but the Rocks needed a change... some change... any change. No real changes in the lineup and in rotation from JVG, so if anything, this trade is good to shake things up a little.

before he joined atlanta every bench he was on was the best in the league. from his 3 years in SAC to his 2 in DET to last year in DEN.

hopefully deke, mo, jon, AB can start to produce.

    Decent little trade.

Now all we need is a new coach, a real PG, a real PF, a better small forward, and some outside shooting, and we are THERE!!

Sorry. But I do hope this precludes some real moves. Our beloved team isn't that great right now.

yea the sac town bench was him bjax and peja they would come in at the same time and cause havoc. This why I want AB back him and barry will get out and pick up the pace with tmac at the three when they get in the game.

This board will roar after Boki becomes a Peja clone on another high profile team, and JVG's sorry ass will be finally tuned up!:p

Any port in a storm. I have always liked the Barry brothers. He will get alot of open looks, more than he has seen in a while. When you have been swept by an expansion club (who looks like they could beat you ten out of ten times) it is time to roll the dice. The good news is (and how desperately we need some), if someone will trade for Lue then there is hope to trade Howard, Taylor, or virtually anyone. Keep bringing in high energy guys who will fire this team up. Note my Christmas wish below.

Yes,that's one of the main problems of our team.We have two young stars Yao and T.M,but rest of the team are too old.I think CD should change his mind to give young players more time to practise.

It's a good trade despite Barry's age. Lue is not a bad player but with Barrett on the team we won't be getting older at the PG spot and can improve our shooting off the bench as well.

Jon Barry is Rick Barry's son.
