A lot of LATAM is being invested by China through the Belt and Road while we don't have a corporate plan or drive to push into those markets. Russia totally wants BRICS to kill SWIFT so their oligarchs can have their yacht money to race our oligarchs.

Argentina was thinking about joining BRICS, even has China financing its debt, but the voters brought in Javvy Milei and they bowed out.

Put me in the Doomer camp. I'm coping Nook. There will be a lot of "pull yourself up from your bootstrap" stories for your kids while we handle our own other massive issues. We're down, but not out. The dollar will still be around as reserve currency, yay...but resolving that debt issue, boo...

There will have to be adjustments to how we live until we figure it all out.

Most of America, including a lot of Democrats don't really overly care about Garcia.

What people are concerned about is that the Trump administration continues to usurp power and is operating closer and closer to a police state.

When you have the President of the United States at a press conference say that he wants to send US citizens to supermax camps ran and overseen by foreign governments, in foreign nations - that is a valid concern, and one that many people have.

The President has now said this twice - on two different days.

Couple that with the people around the President discussing him running for a third term and clearly violating the Constitution and it causes valid alarm bells to go off.

This doesn't even get into the stupidity of universal tariffs, and the execution being embarrassingly bad - and coming off terrible handling of Ukraine/Russian negotiations.

It is amazing that he is only 8 percent underwater in polls - but all it takes is one of the balls that the President has put in play to fall and those numbers will jump quickly, and when the confidence is gone - he is toast.

My disgust for the Democrat party is well founded. Both your Democrats and Republicans are a stain on this country. You are one of the most loyal Democrat supports out there and refuse to acknowledge the problems they have also contributed to this country. You're the guy at the Nuremberg trials who said "i was just doing my job".

Presidents should not disobey laws nor should they commit perjury. But even if a president commits perjury, it doesn't mean they should be impeached.
No, we shouldn't be removing people here legally. Im not sure who was disappeared. Nor do i really care about the plight of Garcia.

Ok, i answered your 'gotcha' questions. Now answer mine.
Why are you so concerned about Garcia but you do give a flying **** about the countless cases that have happened over the years?
Why are you so affixed to this one particular incident?
As we certainly do not want to lay any responsibility on the people/party who put us in the mess in the first place, how do you solve the problem of millions of people waiting hearings. It will take a hundred years to process this. Are you ok with just amnesty violent criminals and forgoing the rights of their victims?

This is the classic rail car paradox. You are choosing the protect the rights of those who shouldn't be here in the first place (mind you, its the democrats mess) over the rights of legally abiding US citizens. I mean, I know why. You need a dunk on Trump.

Why do you think the concern is over one individual rather than the concern being over a patrern that indicates a process that has specific intent to expand to Americans citizens being black bagged and accused of being illegal immigrant gang members without due process?

Due process is what prevents governments from black bagging citizens.

The concern is about the administration eventually doing this to American citizens who dissent.

There. That's the concern you should address in good faith rather than tap dancing around it in a very obvious manner because you are a coward.

I appreciate you acknowledging that nobody really cares about the Garcia case, outside of dunking on Trump.

The rest of your post is why I despise Trump. I think its stupid to call him a wanna be dictator who wants to rule for life. Democrats promised the end of the world with Trump I, including WW3 and overthrowing the government and establishing himself as a dictator. And now they are doing it again. The reality is Trump rules from chaos and pushes the law to the boundary.
Now that said, this is not a problem that started with Trump. The last president we held accountable was Nixon. Technically, Clinton should have been impeached. Bush Jr gave us the patriot act and a 20 year war. Obama continued the same policy and also illegally funded Covid 19 research that decimated the world. Trump I was a clown show and Biden administration turn into a complete embarrassment and stain on America. The overreach of authority and boundaries is found in both parties, with each administration continuously pushing the boundary allowing the next administration to further abuse precedent.

How do we stop this problem? How do we get Democrats to hold their party accountable instead of fiercely defending their precious party that has morphed from a party of principles to this despicable shitshow it is now? How do you get the other side of the spectrum (which we will call the Republicans) to restore their crushed party and take it back from the anarchists?

LOL..... People who get the info from new media like Twitter just come off as extremely ignorant and paranoid.

Which party is directly implementing legislation to disregard the judicial branch and which party is actively disregarding Federal Judges and the Supreme Court? You can lie and "both sides" all you want but it's you loser conservatives who are the problem with this country.

LOL..... you losers think this is about dunking on Trump and not about abuse of powers...... Classic conservatives.

Again.... Conservatives are so worried about defending their party and their dear leader that they can't see the forest through the trees.

This is a man who is trying to face the reality that MAGA is the end state of his belief system and refusing to confront it because it would be an admission of a failed life.

US District Judge James Boasberg ruled Wednesday that “probable cause exists” to hold Trump administration officials in criminal contempt for violating his orders in mid-March halting the use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport alleged Venezuelan gang members.

The judge is still deciding punishment and the next steps he may take, and is giving the Justice Department an opportunity to respond.

He doesn’t. He’s obviously trying to make it about this one guy and shield Trump as much as he can by avoiding talking about the merits of disappearing people who are here legally and flouting the rule of law.

His unhinged rants about Democrats are so sloppy and lazy now that it’s just incredibly cringe. It’s sad how much of a mess this guy has become due to being red pilled on twitter or whatever happened to his brain. Back a couple years ago at least his tactics were fairly slick and not so sloppy.

It's funny because on princple, I probably have more nuanced laundry list of talking points about how shitty the Democrats are than Space Ghost....

    But you know fascism....

kinda sucks more than feckless milquetoast corporate status quo democrats that are the least of my concern now and should be for any rational American.

It’s the Twitter and Podcast brain rot…

The elites have long figured out new media is far more effective for propaganda and brainwashing

Boasberg has no army and no checkbook to impose any such punishment.

This would have been true 20 years ago. Not sure it is any longer in the era of self-imposed media blackouts and AI curated bespoke media tailoring.

He's ride-or-die for like 1/3 of the country, and as a PT Barnum corelary, you can fool some of the people some of the time, so he can always eke out another 10% with his bullshit, which will put him in the lower end of 40% approval raiting, which is right about where he is. And Rassmussen will put their thumb on the scale and come out with a poll that has him at 50% to make all the little MAGATs stay in line and feel good about themselves.

He spent the entire last term in the lower 40s no matter what he did, and 34% was his lowest rating right at the end as he was on the way out the door.

There is intentional gridlock baked into the system at this point. Opinions are incredibly resistant to change from new inputs. I think a solid 1/3 of the country would lemming their way off a cliff before breaking with him.

I agree he is ride or die with 1/3 of Americans no matter what - but if the economy is worse than 2008 - then we will him lose enough to lose.

    Agreed.

The Judiciary has no army and no checkbook to enforce.

We have relied upon a Constitution and a separation of powers for 250 years.

I guess it is time for the Judiciary to raise their own brown shirt army.

So hilarious that the tactic is to vilify Garcia in an effort to distract from what is actually happening.

Most people don't give a **** about Garcia - they care about the Trump march towards a fascist state.
