Just saw it and it was really good. The fans of the older Pixar movies will be happy. I think it's more for adults than kids too.
This movie was really well done. The casting, jokes, storylines, etc., was all perfect. Many sniffles in my theater and.... Spoiler RIP Bing Bong
Over the years Pixar transitioned from kid movies that are adult friendly, to adult movies that are kid friendly. Aside from the Cars movies, pretty much all of their movies have been good at the worst, and spectacular at the best. I really admire their commitment to quality. In the film industry it is very easy to churn out decent CGI movies that make a killing, but they have consistently delivered movies that are of unnecessarily high quality given how easy it can be to make money.
this movie was great.. love the creativity and something different. Definitely a breath of fresh air from all the loud, CGI, comic book movies.
You work in an industry focused on selling things to 12 year old squeakers. Of course you love pixar. You probably also love to interview the squeakers after the film to ask them what sort of rehash CoD they want to play next.
The spoiler had me biting through my lip to keep from bawling.... Great movie, I'd be curious how the small children react to this movie when they are in their teens or 20s. Very much a movie with some serious adult themes.
Excellent movie, maybe my favorite Pixar film ever. No tears shed but came close a couple of times. Lewis Black as Anger was the absolute perfect casting choice for that character. Spoiler Might have been the most tear-jerking scene in all of Pixar films, but I'm probably just in the moment.
Seriously, y'all were crying over Spoiler Bing Bong ? As the father of a 5yo and 2yo I was bawling over other things...
Spoiler for me Bing Bong represented childhood innocence, so it was some pretty heady stuff when he sacrifices himself....
Went with my wife and our three kids (9 and two 11 yr olds) and none of us walked out thinking it was a great movie. Actually, I think we all were a little disappointed. Not saying it was bad but, because it's Pixar and hearing all the rave reviews, we were expecting something much better. My co-worker went with his kids and felt the same way I did. I personally could never get into it or the characters and I felt like I've seen it before. Even Bing Bong seemed VERY familiar. I actually got a little bored through the middle of it. Outside of Cars and Incredibles, I LOVE all the Disney and Pixar movies) but this one made me feel like i just watched a long Saturday morning cartoon. Maybe I just need to see it again with lower expectations or do so knowing there is more of a complex meaning behind everything that I didn't pick up the first time. Interesting premise and I give them kudos for trying something like this, but it just didn't do it for me or my family.
