    From Marc Stein tweeter:

"Just filed to ESPN: Kobe Bryant's ankle injury will force him out of Sunday All-Star Game; Jason Kidd of hometown Mavs to replace him w/West."

"Also just filed to ESPN.com: Philadelphia's Allen Iverson (personal matters) will be replaced by New York's David Lee."

This "All-star" game is becoming a joke.

AB is Waaaaay better than Kidd is this season.

That's more of a career achievement choice, but considering the game is in his town I think its appropriate.

perhaps because Aaron is already on vacation in the Pacific Northwest visiting family and declined...

But Kidd being named over others is probably because of the home team connection.

9 & 9 is an all-star now? Kidd isn't the best PG on his team at this point.

    ....yawn....

I would have a problem with this if it wasn't abundantly clear that name power and other variables (such as Dallas hosting the event) were "good enough" to get you in it alone. Now, if you want to talk about 9 and 9 REALLY being All-Star caliber basketball and that being good enough alone -- then I'll start getting PO'd but this really isn't a shocker to me. We all know how the process works by now.

The All-star game is a joke anyways. Would have like to see AB in the three-point contest though. :( The trophy would look nice next his college three-point trophy. Always next year. I hate having to say that every damn year.

Now, everyone sees why I bad mouth the NBA, so much.

How does Kidd beat out Brooks, why doesn't the coach get to select who should go on the team?

Kidd is averaging more assists, rebounds, steals, blocks, fg%, 3pt% and less TO's.

I disagree, Kidd may have fallen off but hes at worst on Brooks level.

If they asked Brooks and he declined that's a different story. IMO, Evans should've gotten it if that is the case.

That is the most illogical argument ever. The All-Star game should be reserved only for the best players at the present time. I'm not implying that Brooks should be an all-star either.
