That trade that Legler talks about won't work, but if they tossed in Hassell to go along with Diop + George + Terry + pick, I think it'd work. If I'm the Rockets, I try to send (as suggested before) James + Snyder + Landry to the Nets for Terry http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=4446294 This trade would work out as follows: Mavs receive Kidd Nets receive Diop, George, Hassell, Dallas' pick, James, Snyder, and Landry Rockets receive Terry Yeah, that leaves the Nets with a lot of players, but I'm sure Morey could figure out how to make the logistics work in terms of balancing out the rosters
I suggest a trade of Alston/Battier/James. Rox could even add in Hayes if NJ wanted another forward that cant score. Sure the rox would miss alot of the intangibles that Battier brings, but bringing in Kidd is a huge improvement over anyone other than Yao/Tmac. One thing i do know is, with Kidd, the motion offense that RA is trying to implement will CERTAINLY be fluid and motion. But problem with this trade is, NJ are giving up their PG of the worst starting PG in the West, another gunner and a player that plays in their best manned position. But it do gives them a 4M pay cut.
Nets get Tyrus Thomas Rafer Alston Kirk Snyder Rockets protected first rounder for two years and unprotected after Rockets get Jason Kidd JamesOn Curry Chicago gets Pau Gasol Shane Battier Memphis Gets Ben Gordon Mike James Andres Nocioni I love this trade we lose battier/james/aston/and snyder Memphis gets the worst end of it but in return they get nocioni and gordon's expiring contract plus he can be a solid player for them. they only give up Gasol though
i doubt nets would do it due to losing two years of first round drafts. those would be pretty high too. Other than that, I don't see a problem with the trade. Now, is kidd a 20 mil contract worth a rental? his current contract will expire 08-09. let's wait to pick him up in free agency pool.
well, T-mac hasn't been a good shooter either. He's 31 % from the three point line, and his shot selection isn't that great. Kidd can pass to Scola, Landry. Those two guys can score. Battier is excellent at hitting 3s off of good ball rotation. Kidd can still penetrate, leaving wide open looks for his teammates.
No, we're not a championship caliber basketball team right now.....but eventually we could be. If you take a look at the West right now, a team that wasn't even .500 last year is currently the #1 seed. Phoenix, Dallas and SA all look beatable lately and all have some HORRIBLE losses under their belts. As you mentioned, Portland, GS, LA and Denver could easily go .500 the rest of the way and in my opinion simply aren't really that good. My point is anything could happen. If we're healthy going into the playoffs nobody is going to want to face us. Assuming we can find the right balance of JVG's defensive fingerprints combined with Adelman's supposed offensive ingenuity and firepower this could potentially very dangerous team in playoffs. I think i'd rather take my chances on Adelman getting this thing together before i'd trade half of my team to take a $21 million dollar gamble on Kidd. My rule regarding taking on a third max contract (or in this case: a ginormous max contract) has always been will it put us over the top? I really don't think Kidd makes us the championship caliber basketball team you're alluding to. I could be wrong on Kidd and I hear what you're saying. You're making sense, I just still don't like the idea. Agree to disagree on Kidd.
Yeah. I actually think you're right on this. I'm just tired of being a crappy lower seeded playoff team with first round exits. I'll take consecutive trips deeper into the playoffs and at least be satisfied with that progress (though I'm sure Phoenix fans are getting a little frustrated) if I can get it. What else is there? Back to the trade T-Mac threads I guess?
No, I never said i wanted their squad, i just want there prize possesions. Pair them up with Yao, Scola, etc and you got a mean half court team, if only we can find a new coach...hmmmm. I'm all for Keith jones getting another promotion!!!
You know, the more I think of it, we would almost have to part with Scola to do a Kidd trade. You know they want a solid PF, which Scola is transforming into for a bargain price. I just see him being the piece they would desire the most. He would be the Andrew Bynum of the Lakers/Nets talks this summer. the Lakers wouldnt part with him, which killed any possible deal NJ was interested in making. It has been said they want a) Young players, b) expiring contracts, and c) draft picks. Just putting myself in NJ's shoes, the only package they would want from the Rockets would be: Kidd (filler) for Scola James Alston Snyder (expiring contract) Francis (expiring contract) 1st rounder
TMac for Kidd straight up works for me. At least Kidds contract ends after next year. At that time Ming will be peaking and we can bring in a top FA. Does anyone rreally beleive TMac is the answer anymore?
but but but... why would new jersey do that trade? and kidd wants a ring. he'd like a stronger team than the rockets, you'd think.
What is this talk about T-Mac for Kidd? Has everyone forgotten about the fact that Jason Kidd can't shoot or score anymore? He may be getting voted into this year's All-Star game by the fans, but he really hasn't played like a true All-Star. Never a big time scorer, Kidd has further degenerated in that area this season. He's scoring just 11.3 ppg (in 37.3 mpg), on a disgraceful 0.369 FG%. Despite his reputation for being a smart player who takes care of the ball, his turnovers have also gone way up this season. Kidd's PER this season is 16.21 - the rating of a good player, but not an All-Star. If he's so good, then why are the Nets so miserable even though they also have Vince and RJ? Kidd's just a couple months from his 35th birthday, and things are only going to go downhill from here. Kidd is still an absolute statistical freak, grabbing rebounds like a PF and remaining right up there in assists. But both of these things will go down if he were on the Rockets. The Rockets aren't a running team, and Kidd's apg won't look so good if he's tossing the ball to guys like Bonzi instead of Vince Carter. His rebounding will decrease, because he won't be surrounded by incompetent rebounding bigs like he is in NJ. Teams have already doubled Yao to force T-Mac to shoot. Granted T-Mac isn't the most efficient scorer out there, but would you rather see opponents daring KIDD to shoot?
Article on Jason Kidd from Slam Online concerning his status. Not really relevant to any trade possibilities, more about Kidd's decision of joining the Nets in the first place and the position he and the Nets are in now as a result. It's kind of a long article, so I put it in the spoiler. Basically it says Kidd could've gone somewhere else for a serious attempt at a ring but decided to join the Nets for the money, knowing that the Nets keep a tight budget and all the things that go along w/ that (meaning little chance for a serious shot at a ring.) Chicago had to add a contract in two get them under so the trade would go through. Please look at salaries before you call anything dumb! In the trade, every team(maybe not memphis) gets what they want. New Jersey gets young guy with potential in tyrus thomas and 1 expiring contract. Maybe rockets or chicago adds another pick and your set.
