Earlier you stated, "When you say that I wipe DaDakot's a--, it doesn't sound too mature either." When you use the term "either", that implies that you are saying that you are immature too. Basically, your statement reads "although I am not mature, you arent either".
Dont let that stop you from using "idiot" over and over. It takes a mature person to use it repeatedly.
Well I'm sorry if saying that you're an idiot isn't mature. That's why I should talk about you wiping someone else's a--. That's more mature.
Fine I'm immature too . I mean I'm willing to admit that, but calling you ann idiot isn't immature in my mind.
Guility or not, the message has been sent and received. The damage done is long lasting. Iverson's behavior is accepted, condoned, and idolized among the youth of America. He's a hero to our future generation regardless of the legal outcome and his NBA career. The stamp has been set, the mold cast, and it's irreversible - a very scary tomorrow. Iverson is a barometer of what this country values. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out and where we are as a nation. Cross your fingers. Hold on for the ride.
Here's some new math for you. Iverson is to the NBA what Tyson is to professional boxing. Think about it.
Iverson's skills are the only thing exciting about the NBA for alot of people.6 ft. tall, everyone knows he's getting the ball, and he still loft's it just perfectly over SHAQ"S big ass. So he's not an upstanding athlete, who cares! I think people like Bagwell and Biggio and KG, who are greedy and hurt their team that way are worse for sports thaN PEOPLE LIKE iVERSON. sO HE'S A CRIMINAL, SO WAS OUR pRESIDENT, BUT YOU DON'T SEE PEOPLE CRAPPING ON HIM, do you? You don't think it was a little weak how the media runs with the publicity and the police force use 8 people to arrest him? What the hell does morality and sports have to do with one another anyway? Isn't this another attempt by the christian american media to dictate what makes a good and bad person? So he broke some laws, if you see him on the street are you going to turn and walk the other way because you fear for your life?...I doubt it. If he wants to be a thug, he will be a thug just like Babe Ruth was in his time, but to worry how this will affect the reputation of the NBA is a joke! No matter what you say it is not crime that is killing the NBA, it is the selfishness on and off the court as well as watered down athletes. All athleticism and no smarts. Characterwise, Iverson may have his faults but who doesn't? Perhaps the media can go out there find a person that is perfect, before they attempt to measure everyone up to JESUS and TED WILLIAMS.
I don't know... I think he brings up some good points. Athletes are just people, with all the human emotions and problems and insecurities and irrationality of everyone else. Allen Iverson is the same person now that he was before these allegations came to light. We collectively, if not individually, painted him as a hero of the everyman who overcame humble beginnings to reach some sort of hero or demigod status. Now he has become some sort of fallen angel who has ruining his life in the paradise he worked so hard to achieve. The truth is, all of this is occurring in our (the public's) minds. Allen Iverson was never perfect in his life just because he reached some sort of basketball nirvana. Lawyers and businessmen are not perfect when they reach their individual career plateaus, either. We the fans see athletes reach our idea of mastery of their physical bodies and we expect some sort of corresponding perfection in every other aspect of their lives. We turn them into idols because they can do something we can't; something that seems superhuman. My point is: We expect superhuman perfection out of athletes in their personal lives because they achieve superhuman perfection in athletics. Thus, we hold them to a higher standard than the average man. They become role models. Allen Iverson should be held accountable for his actions in the same manner as any ordinary person. He should not, however, be penalized or vilified for failing the expectations of perfection that we collectively have placed upon his shoulders.
Everybody could be acting silly... Not every follower is a leader, but every leader is a follower. What are we following here? I hereby take the lead to stop continuing threads with double and triple side threads continously intermingled into the original thread... in other words comment on the topic.. "Kick Iverson Out.." basically agree, or disagree will do. World economic views and tiddly winks aside, I think anyone in the US deserves a trial by a jury of peers, before the media influences us to the point that we say kick someone out before we know the whole story. AI stays, unless it's proven he's done something recent enough to be booted. Throwing up a man's past is self serving and unfair. It's like throwing the baby out with the bath water. And Ted Kennedy is a murderer, with more proof to convict than OJ... but that's another thread.
