The team asked him to play limited minutes until they felt he had earned more.

So no, he did not do what they asked him to do.

Care to explain? I don't hear anything about current Rockets players wanting to leave for fear of being "disrespected" nor have I heard anything about other players wanting to avoid trades to Houston.

I have heard (repeatedly) that Tmac is soft, injury prone and lazy from players, journalists and NBA executives. I think the truth about the guy is well known throughout the league.

    No, you heard wrong.

He clearly said "I" never played with anyone as talented as Gasol or Odom, the only people that came close was Kevin Johnson and Majerle in Phoenix and Olajuwon in Houston, and yes he did say he loved Rudy T.

Get it right before you try and correct somebody, BRO.

That may be true, but if another team were to offer one of Rudy T's player substantially more money than the Rockets were willing to offer, do you really think that player would stay in Houston solely due to his loyalty to Rudy T?

"Basketball should be about love and loyalty," said Mobley, who has found that combination with the Rockets and could not leave it for a few extra million dollars. Instead, he signed Wednesday what sources said was a six-year contract worth $32.2 million.

Mobley could choose to become a free agent with full "Bird" rights after the fifth year of the deal. But doing so was far from his mind Wednesday.

"I feel I'm a loyal person," Mobley said. "I'm not saying I owe anybody anything. But I feel my loyalty is to the upmost.

"Coach T (Rudy Tomjanovich) and Steve and the rest of the organization are my family. That's how it should be. A lot of teams, a lot of general managers, a lot of owners fail to realize this doesn't have to be a business. It could be a family thing. A lot of people don't see it that way."

Or quite possibly you could look at a team like...oh i don't know lets say the Bulls for instance and realize that they have had exactly zero big name free agent signings since the whole Pippen/Bulls management fiasco. And sorry but Ben Wallace does not compute.

So as I understand it: Not allowing SheMac to come back and play no matter how it affected the current team's chemistry and basketball is being disrespectful because they (Rockets) weren't allowing him to "showcase" himself in order to find that next sucker er big payday. Maybe MeMac's feelings were hurt because folks didn't line up to kiss his a** like they did for Artest.

one of you guys needs to come up with a transcript. i'm not paying for the jim rome podcast.

I know Chuck loved his time with the Rockets and thought the most of Dream. Clyde, well, I don't think they were such good pals.

Not true. He calls out players when needed. I'm sure he's made negative comments about T-Mac in the past before, among other players.

A few extra million dollars per year? Or a few extra million total (as in $35mm instead of $32.2mm) for the entire life of the contract?

    There's a big difference.

What makes these comments sad is that the team ended up trading him, somebody that was so loyal to the organization. It just shows that it doesn't matter how loyal you are, at the end of the day, players are property and they can be moved quicker than a white family in 5th Ward. If loyalty was a factor, we'd be winning rings with Francis, Cat and Yao, The Original Big 3 of the post-Clutch City Era.

Dude who are you? I have noticed that you go around calling people out of their names based on the fact that they have opinions and the last I checked thats what this forum was about.

So chill out with calling people out based on the fact that they dont agree with what you think......We will all have differences of opinion...

Really? Twist it? In my original post, I said "substantially more money". A 6 yr $35.2mm contract is not substantially more than a 6 year $32.2mm contract. That's a difference of $500k per year...not much by NBA standards.

Maybe instead of accusing me of twisting words, you should focus on your own reading comprehension.
