Good try in nitpicking ONE of my examples which overthrew your flawed logic that suggested the best defensive player being the the most valuable player. Another good try in misinterpreting my examples which did NOT suggest Ben Wallace and Udonis Haslem is as good as KG. Yeah, your basketball knowledge is so good that make you think Wade riding on Shaq, Kobe riding on Gasol and Pierce riding on KG instead of otherwise. I certainly don't want that kind of "knowledge". KG is a great big man with excellent defense and good offensive skills. Did I deny that? No. But is he the best player in the championship run? No. Pierce outplayed Lebron on BOTH ends, hit clutch shots and he was not their best player? Gimme a break. KG and Ray Allen had some big games as well. But when Pierce was able to "neutralize" Lebron, there was no way KG and Allen can't beat the likes of Varejao and Pavlovic. THIS was the biggest reason why Celtics won the championship and that's why he was the MVP.
Um why do you insist on putting words in my mouth? When did I say that the best defensive player is always the team's best player? I backtracked and all I could find was this: The fact is that celts team was special because of D, and a large part of that D IMHO is due to KG. Yet somehow you twisted that into: Or do you mean this part of my post? ^This part doesn't even have the word "Defense" in it. Reading Comprehension fail As for the quoted part of your post, that whole Pierce and LBJ thing only happened in 1 game. One game in a seven game series, and one series on their way to the championship. Excluding that last game PP had a horrible series against the Cavs. The first game he had only 4 pts, and for five games out of the seven he had subpar FG percentages (.143,.375, .353, .421, .333). You call that neutralizing LBJ and outperforming him on both ends? The crazy part is that the Celts encountered the Cavs in the Eastern semifinals. So you're not only wrong in your assessment of that series, you also made a semifinal matchup the basis for your finals mvp. Good job! The criteria for the Finals MVP is really vague, but personally I consider it to be the award for the MVP of the entire playoffs. For the entire 2007-2008 playoffs, KG had a per of 23.0 and a win share rating of 4.0 PP had a per of 17.4 and a win share rating of 2.9 www.basketball-reference.com is your friend. Please check it out before you start pulling stuff outa your @$$. As an aside to steddinotayto, I didn't really bother reading the dissertation on winshares other than more winshares = good and that winshares was a combination of offensive winshares and defensive winshares. As you mentioned for the playoffs (since really that's all that matters the Big 3 coasted during the regular season) KG had a ws of 4 while PP had a ws of 2.9. I guess you can say 4 isn't too far off from 2.9 if you look at simply, but looking at it percentage wise KG had 27.5% (or more than a fourth) more WS than PP. I don't think saying KG had a "much bigger" impact than PP is questionable at all.
Failure post. KG was the reason for the Celtics even being in that spot. Paul Pierce himself will tell you that.
jesus christ. if KG Allen or Pierce was removed then they wouldnt have won the championship. wat does this have to do with KG being a punk? his passion is great. he is a future HOFer. he is a difference maker. doesnt change the fact that he picks on weaker players and not thru his gameplay.
