there's noooo way K.G. wants to play center, especially in the West. so you can exclude the Suns in your list. the Bulls, though with tons of talant developing, still light years from a title contender. so it really comes down to Pistons and Rockets. talant wise: Yao+Steve+Mobley > Ben+Hamilton+the unproven Darko $: K.G. will get the Max no matter where he play. Both Rockets&Pistons are over the cap and have to work out a sing-n'-trade. but play in Houston could save him alot of tax. relationship: a friend of Steve's, expressed the interest of teamming with Steve & Yao in last All Star game. Coached by Rudy (still in Rox organization) in Olympia. seems like Houston is the best option other than Minisota
Having never met the guy, my guess is the KG wants to stay loyal to the team he has played for 8 years (or thereabouts). I also guess that he wants to do better than a first round exit. Last year they seemed a better team, but the same thing happened. Bad luck of the draw, or whatever, but another first round exit to explain over the long off season. Kg seemed frustrated, and management responded by trying to upgrade his supporting cast (Why now rather than the previous years I can't imagine - but I digress). KG being the loyal guy I suspect he is, stays with the team to see what happens. So what happens. Well my guess is a first round match up against one of these four Spurs, Lakers, Kings and Mavs. May be at home or away, but any of these could easily and justifiably lead to the same result as last year - improvement, but another first round exit, and another long off season. At that point, I think KG leaves. Could be us, could be just about anybody. He will certainly be desirable to any team, and have a lot of say in where he goes. Sacramento and Dallas, may also be frustrated by missing the conference finals, and have lots of talent to trade with and a chance for finals glory with a KG for anybody (i.e. Webber and Bibby or say Dirk and Lafrenze). Both better offers than Cato, Mobley, Taylor, Rice, Griffin, a fuzzy bear, a foot long egroll and some wide ass seats. Better talent return for Minnesota and a better chance of winning for KG. Well I could be convinced to waffle on the latter, we could be real good real soon. I know, I'm a hopeless homer. Were I KG,(I can only imagine) I would pass on any contract offered this year and see what happens after this year. Make my decision then. PS all of the Minnesota off season moves looked great, but somehow I just think they will not really improve the team. Maybe better, but not next level better. Just a hunch.
there are intangibles to this: *if minny gets out of the 2nd round this year, KG ain't goin nowhere. *if minny gets out of the 2nd round and go further (aka Finals) KG won't go nowhere Garnett will use his 'interest' as leverage for a contract that's all. I'm pretty sure he's not gonna screw his team over again with a big contract but he ain't gonna be paid cheap either. I'm lookin at like the range of 16-18 mil a year..might even be 20 mil a year. But KG will want something in that 16-18 range. Why? well that's a good level since 1. He's still gettin paid a lot more than other players in the league and 2. He gives Minny some caproom to improve the team. but all in all, wouldn't that be somethin? Yao, KG, and Steve plus having JVG as a coach. We could demolish anyone. But yea...this ain't gonna happen.
There is no way dallas will trade dirk and I doubt sac would trade webber. KG will be a free agent so he could go anywhere, therefore, why would you trade your best player just to compensate minn. I think Houston does have a realistic chance of acquiring KG via sign and trade because i doubt other teams will be willing to part with their superstars.
You know, if the Wolves got kcocked out, and the Rockets surprised everyone by making the 2nd round, then we'd have a very good chance.
I totally agree with you and Sane. Nobody else is going to trade their stars... I think we have the best chance of getting him...especially if he says he is interested..and if we make it to the 2nd round and the Twolves don't! Let's start building a relationship with KG!
A winner since when buddy...If KG wants to win he should go to Los Angeles like every other All Star vet has gone. But oh wouldn't it be so grand if he did come and play with us. _______________ LISTEN TO THE LINE UP... THE CAT, THE FRANCHISE, THE DYNASTY, THE KID... WHAT A COMBONATION TO HAVE AND TO CHERISH
DID HE REALLY SAY HE WANTED TO PLAY HERE OR DID WE JUST MAKE THIS UP?? _______________ LISTEN TO THE LINE UP... THE CAT, THE FRANCHISE, THE DYNASTY, THE KID... WHAT A COMBONATION TO HAVE AND TO CHERISH [/B][/QUOTE]
it's got to be a three team trade in order to accomodate KG. It that will happen next year, I think that will be the biggest splash tha Les is waiting for.
We're not making it up..well kinda...it's like inferring. Kevin Garnett would be a huge splash! We got Drexler...Barkley...Pippen.......get GARNETT! (But not for Stevie or Yao)
well first of all we were above .500 last year which technically means we had a winning record and are thus then winners, but aside from that, they'd be winners as soon as KG suited up. good god. there are some really good teams in the west and not one of them would be looking forward to playing a team that featured Yao, KG and Stevie. That line up would rival any in the league. I don't even care who else is in it. I mean maybe the Lakers would still be better, but all their guys would be old (except for Kobe) and all of ours young. If KG ever finds himself in a Rockets line up alongside Yao and Stevie I'm going to go and and start celebrating the championship banners to come.
Give them Rice, Taylor, Cato, Norris and all our first round picks for the next 15 years!!! I'd do it!
I am very aware that we were not below .500 last year, but not making the playoffs constitutes as a losing team... You're a Rockets fan and so am I , but you have to see the big picture...We are on the same team and root for the same players. So technically we had a winnig record, but a losing season was the off spring ________________ If we can get KG, i hope it doesnt envolve us giving any one one up... Just like the whole Sir Charles thing, but KG is actually not in his twilight.
DAMN YOU ASTROS.... WHY MUST YOU TAUNT ME LIKE THIS EVERY FRIKIN' YEAR!!! OH, AND ABOUT KG... A TRADE WOULD BE GLADLY ACCEPTED!!!
I'm not sure about that... KG and Yao with Mobley and Adrian Griffin and who? Our frontcourt would be very good. Probably the best in the NBA! I don't know how they would play together though... And I think that Garnett would maybe want to play for the Rockets ALONG WITH Stevie and Yao... That sounds great! Except 2nd round picks...not first. lol...next 15 years...
what makes you think trading CWebb+Bibby for K.G. an upgrade for the Kings? if K.G. wants to stay in Min. they won't trade him for anyone; if K.G. wants to leave (as a "FREE" agent), why the Kings and/or the Mavs help the TWolves big time by giving their franchise players plus some very good talant(Bibby, LaFrentz)?
