As for the Garnett/Francis battle thing, I think that that's from Garnett not liking people to take shots after whistles(which Francis does a lot), so when Stevie took the shots after the whistle, Garnett eventually started jumping up and grabbing them down. Francis got annoyed or something and sadi something. All in all, it looks like they are still friends.
except the whole premise of the article seems to be garnett not signing an extension and then leaving via free agency to a team he likes. thus we aren't even talking about trading for him. we trade with portland to get sheed to get capspace to sign kg outright. hell, i guess we could just s&t for him. again, it doesn't say we're trading for him. it says he likes houston b/c of steve and yao and would consider playing here along with them by signing with us. our job would be to create capspace.
Just throwing this out there, but whats to say Garnett wont pull a Malone/Payton and take less money for a legitimate chance at a title? Even though the Rockets being labelled as a title contender is a bit premature, you get my point. And I think Garnett's interest in Houston stems from being on a team with Yao -AND- Francis. So the trades including Francis are pointless. But all in all, even though the prospect of having KG in Houston is nice, I think bottlerocket said it best -- hes just bluffing
Maybe KG enjoyrd playing for Rudy T on the national team, and he wants to come to Houston to play for Rudy on a full time basis. Oh wait... Just being a snot. I have very high expectaions of the VG era.
That's exactly what I was thinking. The main reason KG used to express any desire to play for the Rockets was because he loved Rudy. Now that that's gone, I don't know why the hell he would want to play here. Maybe Stein just screwed up and forgot that we have JVG now.
If you were KG who would the other teams be that would be attractive to in the league. Man if we ever really got KG. screw David Rob. and Tim Duncan hell if Yao Ming is good as i think he will be I would say that Yao and KG are better then Hakeem and a healthy Sampson could have been. I may be going to far on that one though.
land_sharks: Don't let Hydra aka Stupid Moniker blow smoke up your ass. He is one of the biggest Mobley lovers on this board. Hydra - nothing crude, aight?
The part of this that is really sad/pathetic/amazing is : Change in team outlook: -3.2 ppg, -0.4 rpg, and +1.2 apg.
What's worse is that KG is worth even more than that. We would have to throw in Cat and/or Griffin to even out the "talent" level.
Uhh..so he wants to share it with Cassell, Hudson, Sprewell, Wally, and Olowokandi? Bleh... I agree with land sharks. Garnett wants to come here to play with Steve and Yao. But without trading Steve or Yao, there is no way we can get Garnett unless he demands that he wants to come here...which is absolutely unlikely. I think he will stay in Minnesota. They are title contenders this year already!
I would accept any trade proposed for Garnett and I'd also be willing to throw in the rights to my first born child. I don't even care what they do with the little b*stard.
IF 1. K.G. wants out of Twin-City for H-Town 2. The Hawks shopping S.A.R. for cap space & talanted big man 3. J. O'Neal wants out of Indy and Indy wants to deal Harrington and looking for depth in their backcourt. this blockbuster could happen: 1.) we send Eddie & Rice to Atlanta for S.A.R. 2.) package S.A.R., Mobley, Moochie & a 1st rd. pick to Indy. 3.) J. O'Neal+Harrington+Croshere+Cato to Minisota 4.) We get K.G. & Ervin Johnson - Hawks trading S.A.R. for Eddie Griffin & Rice..... make sense - Indy trading O'Neal, Harrington, Croshere for S.A.R.+Mobley+Moochie+1st rd. pick.....yeah, if J.O. ask to be traded -Minisota trading K.G. & Johnson for O'Neal+Cato+Harrington+Croshere.....fair & if K.G. wants out it makes sense. - Rockets doing this trade..... no brainer! that leaves us nothing at 3 but Stephen Jackson & Jim Jackson are still out there. we could use the half MCE we left to sign any of them for 1 year. we also need a veteran to back Steve up and I think Mark Jackson(or Rod Strickland) could be a good fit & could be have for cheap. Yao Ming, Cato Garnett, Taylor Jackson, Nachbar A. Griffin, Pike Francis, Jackson/Strickland now only if the other three teams are smart enough...
oops, I forgot we traded Cato for Jonson should be like this: Yao Ming, Johnson Garnett, Taylor Jackson, Nachbar A. Griffin, Pike Francis, Jackson/Strickland
With KG, Minn. is a playoff team almost regardless of what NBA talent McHale can put with him. After all they've made the playoffs the last 7 or 8 years with KG and whatever. The missing key here is that to be considered to be title contenders, you have to be expected to make it out of the 1st round of the playoffs. They're best chance was this past year, but they had the misfortune to draw the Lakers. I think KG wanting to test the free agent market this summer is really saying that this is probebly the best supporting cast that could be put together by Minn. under the circumstances, but we have to get past the 1st round! I think if Minn. doesn't get at least to the 2nd round, KG is gone. Who would he like to play for? Being a Chicago boy, the Bulls and probably Pistons are good choices. As far as up and coming young talent is concerned, you have to include the Rockets, Suns(if KG wants to play center) and Bulls. I think his wish list would be 1. Bulls 2. Rockets 3. Pistons and 4. Suns.
This is truly a dream, excuse me--fantasy, but sometimes those stories in Penthouse Forum really did happen! KG may be willing to sacrifice a little moola to play with a franchise 5 and 1. His game and Yao's would compliment each others very well. I doubt Minny makes a trade, unless they truly see the writing on the wall. They have to believe that KG will appreciate the off-season moves. I think our chances rest on how well Minny does this season and how much KG likes working with the new guys. It's a longshot, but keep those letters coming in, it keeps are boring lives exciting.
