I don't see the KG liking Houston as much of a shock as Mark Stein calling the Rockets a "Title Contender." Sorry for asking, but when did we stop being lottery bound for the past 4 years and become title contenders?

I guess there are people outside of Houston that actually have faith in Steve and Yao.

On these boards it seems like everyone hates steve.... thats becasue we are fans, and we have to critizise, we always want this team to win, that is what a fan does. But if you go outside of houston, most people think yao and steve are the next big thing.

remember, on the all-star game, garnett said that he was so glad he's in a team with steve and yao. and he said that steve is a good friend of his. and same as to steve.

    Minnesota trades:
PG Troy Hudson (14.2 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 5.7 apg in 32.9 minutes)
SF Kevin Garnett (23.0 ppg, 13.4 rpg, 6.0 apg in 40.5 minutes)
    Minnesota receives:
PF Maurice Taylor (8.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 20.6 minutes)
PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 16.8 minutes)
SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.7 minutes)
PG Steve Francis (21.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 6.2 apg in 41.0 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +5.5 ppg, -1.6 rpg, and -1.0 apg.

    (Houston does the reverse)

    TRADE ACCEPTED

If Garnett really asked out of Minnesota and wanted to come to Houston, such a package as this could be provided. We throw in a draft pick or two and both teams don't come out half bad. Minny gets an "all-star" point guard and a bit of cap relief from Rice. It also lets them move any of Sam Cassel, Latrell Sprewell, or Wally Szczerbiatch for whatever. Houston of course gets the big ticket and a competent point guard to take care of all our scorers.

Alternatively, Moochie can be replaced with Eddie Griffin and Bostjean Nachbar to sweeten the pot a little for Minny. This would result in a line up of:
    1 - Hudson, Norris
    2 - Mobley, Piatkowski
    3 - Griffin, Piatkowski
4 - Garnett, Badiane? MLE player? Cato?
    5 - Yao, Cato

    You want to get serious?

    Steve Francis
    Glen Rice
    Eddie Griffin
    Wilks
    1st round pick

    for

    Kevin Garnett
    Troy Hudson

    Olowakandi/Joe Smith?
    Griffin/Joe Smith/Trent
    Wally/Trent/Rice
    Spree/Wally/Francis
    Francis/Wilks?/backup PG

Pretty good considering they have a post player, a KILLER backcourt, a sharpshooting 3, and 2 decent PF's. Also, they get a first round pick.

    Yao/Cato
    MoT/Garnett
    Garnett/Griffin/Boki
    Mobley/Pike
    Hudson/Moochie/Wilks

Who can offer a better star than Francis as well as $9.6M in capspace?

Yao inside, Mobley outside, Garnett everywhere else.

You miss the point...KG has interest in the Rockets to play with his bud (FRANCIS) and Yao. He wouldn't push for a trade if it wasn't EXACTLY the deal he wanted.

Pie in the sky, but IMO don't propose a move with Francis or Yao going out, as that would reduce KG's interest in H-Town.

As stated, KG and Francis have been known to go at it. Aside from this, KG has no say in a trade (unless there's a kicker in his contract).

It's certainly news for me that KG is that interested in Houston.

Obviously, just like everyone else I really don't think KG to Houston is gonna happen. However, if there is even a small chance, I think that it would be a sign-and-trade next offseason, meaning we won't have Rice's contract to unload. However, this combination of players would work:

    Houston Trades:
    Cat
    Cato
    EG
    MoTay
    Mooch or Pike

    Houston Receives:
    KG

I would do it, even though we would need a third big guy and we would have to start combination of Nachbar, Pike, and AG. But in the end it's all about what KG wants to do. I think if he really wanted to come to Houston, he could make the Wolves swallow this deal.

    Our lineup:

    PG: Franchise, Wilks
    SG: Pike, AG
    SF: Nachbar, AG
PF: KG, (Badiane or Free Agent)
C: Yao, (Badiane or Free Agent)

I disagree, KG has ALOT of say in signing the extension. He can force the T-Wolves hand (See Pippen...God help us).

The reason that they go at it because they are both winners (not whiners) and want to win. Alpha v. Alpha. I wouldn't make too much of it.

Oh, I'm assuming that they trade him during the season while he can't threaten to walk.

ok, i'm back from cleaning myself up after thinking about the yao/kg/steve possibilities.

seriously, since when has kg been actually interested in us? if it's even slightly true, try to make it work. i mean i'm thinking there's a 96% chance he signs the extension, but man the possibilities. and really, while minnesota can give him gobs of money, where would you think your best chance lies? with the kandi man, wallyworld, an old spree and cassell with craploads of money or with steve and yao, who are young and great, and a mere max contract? i mean, far be it from me to tell someone to turn down 10's of millions, but he's already go so much and i'm sure we could find someway to offer him a lot and i think we have the better future with a core that is around his age. COME TO HOUSTON KG!!

that was one reason i wanted to do sheed deals this summer, b/c kg (and to a lesser extent kobe) were on the market. trade anyone but rice (and of course yao and steve) for sheed and let the contract expire, and that's 25M off of our 57M payroll, which would put us way below the cap. kg, we're talking a decade of going for the title and more money than you'll ever need. screw loyalty, come to the rox. we'll all be so happy we might even wait 2 or 3 days before we start tearing you apart on the board.

it sucks it will never happen, but kg/steve/yao could be the hakeem/jordan/drexler in their primes we never got to have. could you imagine if you were other teams' fans and heard kg was coming to houston to team up with steve and yao?

I think Portland would immediately jump in with an offer like Rasheed Wallace and Derek Anderson for Garnett and Hudson.

WOW! It's amazing how a small reference to a city can stir up so much buzz. Even if there was some miracle of landing Garnett, he wouldn't go for anything less than Steve or Yao.

Who would ya'll rather give up?

Which combo do you think would do better, KG/Steve or KG/Yao?

I would love to see a KG/Steve lineup, but I would personally like to see a Yao/Steve lineup better, I think.

    Sane,
Your trade doesn't work salary-wise (or so says real-gm). It is similar to my second trade, but you replaced Nachbar and Mo T with Wilks.

    land_shark,
You trade before the deadline because Minny fears that Garnett will walk. Garnett can't nix the trade, and there is no reason he wouldn't want to play with Yao and Mobley, especially since he would take a big paycut to play anywhere else.

Mobley has shown a willingness to take a backseat (and play defense), and would thus fit in better with Yao and KG. With Steve in there too, there just wouldn't be enough shots to go around.

Please! Why would he come here? He is just saying that as negotiating tactic for the T-wolves to show him more love and $$$.

He wouldn't want to share the rock with Yao and Franchise anyway.

"A person familiar with the negotiations said the Wolves are not offering Garnett the maximum salary. Garnett would become a free agent next summer if the sides don't reach an agreement. Because any other team that tries to sign him must stay within its salary cap, Garnett can likely make more money with the Wolves, who are not bound by that stipulation."
