I was disappointed with Yao against Garnett. I didn't mind that YAO couldn't stop Garnett from scoring, but he should have gotten his own points with ease against KG. Ohhh well, atleast it wasn't a blow out.
Can we leave this "no heart" stuff out of it? Yao obviously cares, and when he plays bad it bothers him more than anyone else.
Man, if I had 2 freaking all stars to take the load off me in the first 3 quarters of the game, I would also have the energy to have a go at anybody in the 4th. But wait... ekim is clearly a fan of the Celtics. Get out of here dude, this is a Rockets board. We support the players of our team, not diss them after a hard fought game.
Yao can't guard KG, it's on RA to make a change when the Cs went small. We couldn't take advangtage of their foul problem.
so no compare between YAO and TD, YAO dominated TD in the first match and made TD like scrub..... TD is average NBA player
No kidding, I wish Yao can consistently hit those wide open face up jumper. I think he will eventually thought.
He shot the ball twice in the final 6 minutes against KG, who has freakish length that can actually get to Yao's shot, but managed to get the ball I think 2-3 times to a wide open Battier for the 3. If Battier makes one of those and Head drops dead, we win.
wtf? are you blind? you didn't see what yao were doing? his shots didnt' fall down, but he's hard working, on defence, on rebound, on screen, on clear up way to basket for teammates, on pick up desperate pass and dunk! yes, rox took lead just after yao went to bench, then where is thi minus 16 hole gone??? with yao on the bench? you were really seeing what you want to see but not what is real.
EXACTLY. Im gonna sound like a Tmac hater here, but I'm gonna risk it. Tmac is NOT worth the money he is being paid. He is injured and often settles for Js rather than penetrating and making things happen; dont even get me started about the "heat-check" pull-up Threes he takes in transition. The simple fact is that he isn't consistently dominating to be worth his paycheck. If we moved him, then we'd be able to get 2-3 GREAT role players who'd be able to give Yao the help he needs.
Yeah, KG made Yao looked like a scrub in the 4th...if you simply ignore the simple facts that Perkins and Pollard hacked Yao throughout the game and that Yao is still feeling some ill effects from the flu. He has always had trouble playing against KG, I don't know why you have to bash the guy, especially when he has the biggest heart on the team, both literally and figuratively. What do you want Yao to do when he's guarding the more quicker KG? Call for help and leave Allen and Pierce open? Yeah, that's smart. Also, tell me what you want Yao to do on the offensive end when he's getting swarmed by the Celtics?
KG got Allen & Pierce. Yao got no prime player to back up and you will win only 3 pts on your home game! Kg should carry his team better than that!! Get well Tmac you got work to do!
I think it's just because Yao struggled on shotting recently, It's been a while. those turnaround jumpers and jump hooks would have fallen in if it was before. he's just in a bad time of him. maybe his right hand injury bothered him. He'll be fine.
Your crazy... KG is a top 15 player of all time when its all said and done. He's totally changed the PF/C position. How many players have we seen that can realistcally play all 5 positions, especially at 7 feet tall. Kevin Garnett has more heart than any player in the league in my opinion. Noone plays with the passion and determination that KG does. KG is much more of a leader than Yao, and WAY more clutch. I'm a huge Rockets fan, but thats an absurd statement. Yao got owned tonight by KG.
I remember that back when Yao first joined the Rockets he could hit those 16 to 18 feet jumpers consistently. In the process of the converting himself into a low-post player, Yao has lost that part of his game. Now every time I see him shoot one of those jumpers I know it's going to brick. I remember that Jeff Van Gundy said during last year's playoffs that Yao was just an average player outside 9 feet from the basket. That is exactly what we are seeing now: under the new offence Yao is playing further away from the basket, and he is not very good out there. It is up to the coaching staff to utilize Yao's strengths and hide his weaknesses under the system. If it means benching Yao against certain matchups, I think that should be done. This team needs Yao Ming in the long run, but right now what they need more is winning.
Yao's scoring and Rafer's scoring running the pick and roll with Yao was the reason we came back in the 3rd and early 4th. And let's get this straight, when Yao went to the bench in the 4th, the Rockets were losing by 2. When Yao came back Houston was losing by 1. A one point difference.
This kind of thread is really moronic. What's the point? Superstars fare better or worse against one other in different games. Remember all those years KG played with a bunch of losers in Minesota and lost most of the game against Houston? Remember how many times Yao "dominated" KG in those days? KG is playing with a better team now. That's it. No need to bash your own player.
