I think the NBA could really use this trade right now. Anything to take away from the Donaghy situation. Having Boston in the Finals could be a good thing, too.

Especially when we whack them in 6.

Maybe so, but they are still a few players away from being ranked as teams in that order.

Garnett would never agree to the deal if Allen or Pierce are part of it.

Someone mentioned that Boston trio greater then the Rockets team. The Rockets team is much deeper then Boston, and I would take my chances with Francis, T-Mac and Yao against KG, Allen and Pierce.

Statistically, they're definitely better. But how much is left on that team, and how well do they mesh.

    Frankly,

    I think Nash/Amare/Marion > KG/RA/PP > Yao/TMAC/SF > Duncan/Parker/Ginobili

but if I had a gun to my head, I'd still have my money on the Spurs to win it all....wouldn't you?

I'll take my chances with Yao/TMac/Stevie against Nash/Amare/Marion. I'll put my money on the Rockets ending the Spurs title reign though! ;)

    They waived Allan Ray?

Damn, having Allan Ray and Ray Allen on the same team would have been awesome...stupid Celtics...

Even if we say KG/Yao and Pierce/McGrady cancel out, how do you NOT rate Allen higher than Francis at this juncture of their respective careers? SF3 is nothing more than a role player now, Allen is STILL one of the top scorers in the league and one of the best shooters to ever lace 'em up.

But as I said, I think the Rox as a TEAM still end up edging the Celts in a head-2-head.

That being said, I HOPE you're right...

The issue is it takes more than three, it takes even more than five...

Suns has Bobosa, Raja Bell, and now added Grant Hill.

Rockets has Shane, and hopefully Bonzi is back to old form, now we added Scola and Steve Francis.

Spurs has Bowen, Oberto, Horry, Finley... who are all battle tested...

What does Boston have besides those 3? Glenn Davis, Rondo, and...

Having said that, what they got should be good enough to move them to the top in the East. Just don't start comparing to the West, yet.

Man, I am loving this trade. Boston has no bench but hell, did we really have a bench in 94 or 95? Ok, did we really have a bench in 95...outside of Cassell?

That threesome should do some serious damage in the East. This is good for basketball....tired of chumps coming out of that conference.....

I think Boston had to make this trade

They haven't done anything in 20 years. They have a legit chance now. i'll take KG, Pierce, and Ray Allen over Deng, Gordon, Hinrich all day.

I haven't read this entire thread so somebody may have touched on this, but give Danny Ainge credit......

He turned Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, Jeff Green, and Wally Szcerbiak into KG and Ray Allen. That is ridiculous on alot of levels.

If Jefferson hasn't been extended already Minny are taking back expiring contracts while cutting enough salary to get under luxury tax. If Jefferson is the center piece for them in this deal, and they lose him next free agency. All they get for KG is a salary dump to stay under LT.

I still think that, even with the addition of KG, the Celtics need to get a new coach.
