It's trash talk. It's not supposed to be politically correct. I am sure other players have been called much worse in the past.
Maybe he meant to say "cancerous" but was unable to articulate a 3-syllable word in the heat of the moment... just saying Anyway, how can "cancerous to the team" be mistaken as "cancer patient"? The only similarity of the two expressions was "cancer."
C'mon guys. Im not a KG fan but who trash talks calling people cancer patients?? This is a guy who has probably dealt with many real cancer patients through charity work. Charlie probably "misheard" him.
Lol @ do you know him personally. I hate when people say **** like this. Why speculate about anything since we don't know these guys personally. Common sense would tell you that I'm saying he could have interpreted it the wrong way because that is what people do a lot of times when they get into an argument. Not because I personally know Charlie Villanueva
Well he is his coach, so duh, he is going to back him up regardless. Only Garnett and Villanueva know the real story; the rest of us can only speculate.
He is going to back him up, but not lie about it. Doc Rivers is a straight shooter. Rivers know the real story too. He was nearby at that moment and heard what Garnett said.
Actually, I think that's pretty effective trash-talking. It picks on his alopecia. I could see KG realizing in retrospect how it was insensitive to people he knew with cancer, but just not thinking about it at the time. And now, to avoid offending them his PR guy is providing a little plausible deniability. I think he's better off admitting he said it and say he sees in retrospect that it was insensitive and he's sorry. That would require some maturity though. Also, CV is a wuss for making a big deal out of it.
