Owens overrated? Is that a joke? The guy is a threat to score every time he gets his hands on the ball. I saw him catch a 5 yard slant on MN and then spin away and break 2 more tackles to turn it in to a 20 yard reception. He's the epitome of a playmaker. I also love it when he catches a hitch, pauses, looks at the corner, then shoves him to the ground as he runs for the first down. Priceless. BTW pgabriel is right. Did you see that block at the end of Barlow's run? He not only got the guy nearest to Barlow, he also managed to cut block the 2nd nearest defender too. I may not know some things, but I know that is really freaking hard to do. Probably the best downfield block by a receiver that I've ever seen. The Answer. Love it.
Owens is one of the biggest dumbasses that plays profesisonal sports and does drop more passes than an elite receiver should, but no doubt he is a hell of a football player. Only Moss and Harrison are better at his position.
Dallas WFAA Channel 8 sports anchor Dale Hansen is reporting he's already recieved four calls saying that there are realtors in the Dallas (Valley Ranch) area "looking for homes that fit Keyshawn's needs." He'll rejoin big Bill... count on it. wfaa.com
from WFAA.com Parcells can't say much about Keyshawn, but... Deactivated Tampa Bay receiver could be a good fit for Cowboys 11:28 PM CST on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 By MATT MOSLEY / Dallas Web Staff IRVING – A day after Tampa Bay deactivated starting wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson for the final six games of the season, his old coach was playing it close to the vest. "He played very well when I had him," said Bill Parcells, who coached Johnson with the New York Jets from 1997-99. "I like him personally." When pressed for more, Parcells repeatedly stated an NFL rule that doesn't allow him to comment on players who are under contract with other teams. Tampa Bay officials shelved Johnson on Tuesday, saying he had missed several mandatory workouts and team functions in recent weeks. Johnson, who has been very public about his desire to play for another team in 2004, said he was still shocked by Tampa Bay's decision. As word of Johnson's deactivation spread Tuesday, it was assumed that he might end up in Dallas. Johnson caught 242 passes for 3,264 yards and 23 touchdowns while playing under Parcells. But in an interview Tuesday with ESPN, Johnson said he wasn't interested in coming to Dallas. "I don't have a desire to play for Bill," Johnson said. Johnson has three years remaining on a $56 million contract with Tampa Bay, which means the Cowboys would have to move big-money players such as receiver Joey Galloway to make room for Johnson under the salary cap. The Cowboys could also take a wait-and-see approach. If other teams don't trade for Johnson, Tampa Bay would probably release him, allowing the Cowboys to acquire him without giving up draft picks or players. Johnson would give the Cowboys something they have sorely lacked this season: a reliable third-down receiver. At 31, he doesn't have the speed to be an effective downfield threat, but his size (6-4, 212) and toughness make him a threat on short passes across the middle. Cason to get call as third-down back Aveion Cason, who hasn't been active since the Tampa Bay game Oct. 26, said he will return to the lineup Sunday against Carolina. Cason has carried the ball 30 times for 169 yards, which includes a 63-yard touchdown run against Atlanta. Cason, who would take rookie Zuriel Harris' place on kickoff returns alongside Derek Ross, hasn't been active since 33-year-old Adrian Murrell joined the team three weeks ago. When asked why Cason hadn't been playing, Bill Parcells said: "You only have so many choices. People don't realize that. You can't just indiscriminately dress extra guys or you won't have any special teams players." Young: 'I'm not sure why I was benched' Starting right tackle Ryan Young said he wasn't sure why he was benched during the third quarter of Sunday's 12-0 loss to New England. Bill Parcells said Young's poor play got him pulled. "I thought I was doing OK," said Young, who has missed two games with a sore right knee. Briefly ... Joey Galloway (left quadriceps) and special teams standout Markus Steele (high left ankle sprain) returned to practice Wednesday after missing Sunday's game. The team didn't list anyone on its injury report. ... Carolina Panthers safety and special teams standout Jarrod Cooper was suspended by the NFL for four games Wednesday for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He will be eligible to return for the final two games of the regular season. GOSSELIN: 'I WOULDN'T TRADE FOR HIM' Dallas Morning News pro football writer Rick Gosselin's take: Keyshawn Johnson won't be available until next year. I certainly wouldn't trade for him. That's too big a contract to take on for a 31-year-old, non-speed receiver who doesn't find the end zone enough at this stage of his career. He's not Michael Irvin. If he can't find happiness on a Super Bowl championship team, I'd wonder where he can find happiness. It is a team game, isn't it? E-mail mmosley@dallasnews.com
