our starting lineup does not have the mentality needed for the fast break. i see rafer gun it down the court all the time sometimes getting a one on one, but because i think he is not confident with his finishing ability, he pulls it back. tmac does not run period unless he is in a favorable situation. even when he was in toronto and orlando, i have never seen tmac in a full on sprint. not saying he doesn't have the finishing ability to do so, because he does, but he is not really the type to sprint down the court with or without the ball because he seems to conserve his energy.

scola and yao and artest do put a lot of effort in getting down the court, but all three are not great finishers around the rim due to their lack of athleticism. same with battier or barry. brooks and head do have an ability to finish around the rim along with dorsey and landry, but how often do you get to see all four on the court together? let's face it, as much as i want this team to take advantage of easy buckets on the break, they won't. But I think brooks will get his fair share of opportunities, once he gains the trust of adelman, to go on 1 on 1 fastbreaks like what tony parker does about 5 times per game.

this is what makes us different from the lakers and the hornets, two of the teams which are ahead of us in terms of projected success because, both are willing and able to get up and down the court and do it proficiently.
