Few actors have the ability to hold an entire comedy... you've got to have a supporting cast. Vince Vaughn I've loved in some roles, then some movies I get tired of his "state the obvious... and then say out loud what the person is thinking" schtick. Wedding Crashers and Old School ftw though.
Those were easily his two best roles. His role in Old School was perfect. I also liked Will Farrel better in those two movies than most movies he does for the same reasons. Avoids overexposure.
So, your standard for all films is believability? I personally think Smith, Judd Appatow and others are saving the comedy. For years, the comedy for adults disappeared. I'm glad they are back. We needed the Stripes and Animal House for our generation, not just films with r****ded kids falling all over themselves as "adult" humor.
Old School and Wedding Crashers did this. Apatow's movies have become increasingly pathetic. I understand putting out as much as you can while you're "Hot," but I wish these writers would actually start caring about the actual movie rather than shoving out as much as possible.
Oh man, forgot all about Swingers. I'd have to re-watch it, but I don't remember Vince being funnier in that role than the other two. I thought that movie was great though.
Seth Rogen is hilarious. His schtick is not as fresh as it once was, but he still has a lot in the tank. This is not an Apatow movie though. This is a Kevin Smith movie. None of Kevin Smith's movie focus solely on one character. There might be a lead character, but he brings so many funny characters into play. The best part about any Kevin Smith movie is the dialogue. The back and forth banter between two of Smith's characters is unparralleled. I think Rogen will be very good in this kind of role.
Good point, Rogen's best asset is his dialogue ability. Most of his exchanges are great. I look forward to this as a fan of Kevin Smith and Seth Rogen. Plus Elizabeth Banks is hot.
I think everybody is missing the point. Whether or not you like Rogan is not important. What IS important is our agreement that Utah is dumb.
This movie's demographic is twenty somethings so of course oldman Fatty ain't gonna get it. BTW Fatty thought The Bucket List was hysterical.
