Ulysses lmao. Thanks for the laugh. The Rockets are depressing not only on the court but our front office is nearing Texans level ineptitude at the moment risking injury to guys they are trying to trade.
What I was most impressed with KPJ is the patience that he had while creating for the team. It was also refreshing to see him swing the ball unlike John/Vic/EG that are unable to swing the ball, thus they are the team's biggest ball stoppers.
I hope everyone is comparing him to James only insofar as the manner in which he plays is similar. If prime KPJ can just produce numbers similar to his g league 24 and 7 we should all be ecstatic. While those are impressive, they wouldnt compare to James' 5th or 6th best seasons. Its funny how underappreciated Harden is even here. But then again there is a contingent of James-can-do-no-wrong posters so I guess it all works out...
I’ve seen way too many people comparing their production...1 of the 1st posts in this very thread is bringing up how Harden averaged only 12, 3, and 2 his 2nd year u can’t compare numbers when 1 guy was just playing his role on an elite team...3rd year Harden was already All-Star caliber even tho he averaged just 17, 4, and 4, and 2nd year Harden was clearly better than his 12, 3, and 2 statline
What's with that weird hitch in his freethrows back in the day. Hardens shooting ability will always put him above KPJ at any age. Especially in this day and age, you need to shoot consistently from the 3 and freethrow line. Porter a bit below average in both departments. I see porter had a bunch of workouts in the off-season which is a good sign. He needs to be able to hit above 37 percent on open 3's.
I mean there are many other factors. KPJ also started in the NBA a year younger than Harden at 19. We have no clue how a third year KPJ would handle a role on a team shooting for high expectations in the playoffs. It's very undetermined and I've said plenty of times that hoping that KPJ turns out to be a top 25 all time great in the same manner ad Harden is setting ourselves up for disappointment. I'm just making a point that for a 19 year old rookie, he did have decent production at the NBA level already.
Point was to show him love and support he can be great. No need to criticize this kid in the future for every mistake. There’s going to be good days and bad days. We gotta be behind him
Harden's EVERYTHING will always put him above KPJ at any stage. Stop comparing the two. It's not some grandiose statement that Harden is light-years away. NO **** SHERLOCK.
No fun allowed I guess, this is a forum, it's fun to compare anyone. Also the conversation was comparing Harden's Rookie and Sophmore seasons with Porter's. There's nothing wrong with that. Porter probably has the same handling abilities and passing as Harden at 20 years old.
Im not gonna lie the kid got skill, but he is not James Harden. He could def be a great 6th man. We shall see, but all the overhype is a bit astonishing. I mean if he was passed upon because of mental problem, what happens if this starts up soon?
Harden's career arc is a total outlier, 99% of people who had similar rookie stats to him did not end up with a career even near him and he's not done yet. Give the damn kid a break. Right now, it looks unlikely KPJ will have Harden's ability to get the basket and line. With Harden, attacking the basket is Plan A, getting to the free throw line is Plan B and he had the strength and aggressive mentality to get it done. I think with KPJ's game he may be more successful working on his 3pt shot more to open his drives up. His ability to shoot off the dribble and off the ball are going to be critical, he seems to have all the other tools to be a great young player. I'd love to see him cut out the mid range and keep working on his 3 and D. Great passer. Can see some Trae Young in his game too.
Let's please stop with the Harden comparison, nobody needs be put under that much pressure. It also only will make people turn on him if he does not reach those heights.
