I agree 1000% and that's how I've run any organization I've had the privilege to lead, but I don't see Silas and Stone operating like that and even if they did, Wall would likely become a malcontent. Thus why I suggested the above. Whether we like it or not, sports is part of the entertainment industry, which means divas and drama is part of the package.
The two things that stand out the most in Lamb’s stat line; three-point shooting and shot-blocking. In a recent interview with USA Today’s Bryan Kalbrosky, Lamb said that he thinks he “can do a lot of what PJ Tucker does” as an NBA player. While that’s in stark contrast to his role and playing style at Vermont, he has the skillset and body type for it. He’s a career-33.6 percent 3-point shooter on 5.3 attempts per-40 minutes (428 total attempts) and he shot 78.3 percent from the line on 535 total free-throw attempts. BT has same length, more hops, better playmaker and better perimeter defender. But Lamb is just more physical offensively and defensively.
Wish we would’ve held on to Thomas. He’s an NBA player, and I assumed we’d sign him back after our inevitable fire sale. Not the worst loss, but I think he’ll have a solid NBA career.
You are saying his floor is Stevie Franchise and his ceiling is James Harden? A bit optimistic I would say given he’s leading a 5-6 G League team
Busy week, so catching up on news, but I was surprised to see this kid play so well in the first game for the Vipers. He fit in like he had been there all along. Looking at his college career, he was obviously the dominant star with Vermont from his freshman year and playing through an injury as a senior hurt his draft stock. This was a welcomed comment in the article you posted, "It’s unfortunate, because he has great character and he’s worked his ass off to get where he is today, not to mention having a skillset that’s well-suited to the way the NBA is modernizing." It's interesting to see some of the young players Stone is picking up to play with Wood or to develop in G-L... KPJ - Harden-like skills with scoring, creating and playmaking. Basically given away by CLE because of locker room/maturity issues KMJ - Great blood-lines, super-freak athlete, but overlooked because he did IMG vs college. BT - Small school guy with skills and size for a 1/2 (left for CLE)... interesting dynamic evolving between us and them with player movement Reeves - Looked pudgy when I first saw him, but I like his game. He can do a little of everything and was very good defensively in college. Good article on him... https://victorybellrings.com/2019/06/20/josh-reaves-nba-draft-profile/ Brooks - Quick trigger and can get his shot off well. Could see him developing into that 3pt specialist and replacing McLemore if we can move him. Queen is also getting some run and doing something with it. I hated losing BT, I liked him better than Mason Jones, but that's another story. If we can just move some vets, I'd love to see some of these kids get a chance on the big stage. Stone isn't perfect, but he's finding us some interesting pieces on the cheap to consider in the rebuild.
Imo Francis was a horrible decision maker, I think he would be doing the same in G league. Didn't put his talent to use.
Sometimes you gotta drain the swamp. Wall wanted his own team but not rebuild. We’re rebuilding cause Wall is a shadow of his former self. So is Boogie. They’re too late i the game to be better n the same convo as James Harden/Kyrie/Lebron... while Wood KPJr. And others got something to prove. Wall is more in the space of Derrick Rose and Westbrook. He has like 2 more years before his body starts to break down and he’s just now catching up with his 3pt shot. He’ll average 19-20 ppl at best... he needs to be posting 8-10 legit dimes a game at least. He can’t even pnr. I can he adjust to small ball? That’s up to him. Old Guards rely on big men to play around with. I see him getting traded especially with that big old contract and KPJr. about to get his own team ala LMelo ball (he’s way better than ball imo)
Very informative article on Reaves, thanks for that. Now I understand why Reaves tries so hard to create offense for himself, it is a skill that he was told he needed to be drafted. He has improved in that area then, but not very efficient. He is still much better off ball and needs to refocus so we can see the the elite D again. But how many 6-3 to 6-6 players do the Rockets need? Rockets really NEED to invest in more 6'7 to 7-0+ players, especially in G League. And I was a huge fan of Brodric Thomas too.
I think Wall is having one of his better seasons actually. But Wall is just not who he thinks he is, a guy good enough to build franchise around. Certainly not a franchise with championship expectations.
