You know its a rough year when you get excited to watch the Rockets G League affiliate.... ...I'm that guy
This is good. They need to face some adversity. We need to see how they handle losing. Make sure KPJ doesn’t start chucking pastries in the locker room or something. Lord knows they’re in for a lot more of it when they come up to the big club.
I didnt see a bad game from Porter he had the best +/- among the starters and for a 19 year old I think his game is nice. His passing is lazy at times, but he has all the tools. NINETEEN YEARS OLD! Sorry if Im too excited - we need some glimmers of hope.
Truthfully Kmart and KPJ should play all 15 games in bubble for experience and then come up after the all star break. 9 more games at the G level will be more valuable to their development.
Wall is who he is, unfortunately. I never realized that he wasn’t really a good passer. In fact, i don’t think he is that skilled. He’s extremely fast with decent handles and good finishing ability. It still astonishes me that he seems to be incapable of running a good PnR with Wood. He did that with Gortat who has worse hops, hands and finishing ability. The only thing Gortat was better, probably much better at, was setting screens. Wood‘s screens suck
Wood is better with slip screens, requires different timing and ability to pass OVER, between or under the help defense. Wall is much better passing back to the perimeter once he penetrates. Wall lacks ability to see things in slow motion.
We ain’t trying to win a chip rn. He’s looking at the long term rn. Building our team up for a team that can contend for 10+ years. You have to sacrifice a couple seasons for that
There aren't many better passers to the corners than John Wall. Unfortunately, we don't make many of them.
Only having TWO playable guys on Rockets and ONE playable guy on Vipers over 6'8 has nothing to do with rebuilding for future. Stone has a fiduciary responsibility to his coaches and organization to provide them the resources to succeed at their job right now as well as for the future. Stone absolutely is accountable for lacking foresight or competence to realize that injuries are real and going ultra light at TWO positions is reckless. In addition, not adding these players AFTER injuries is negligent. GM job doesnt end after preseason acquisitions or after Harden trade, the job is ongoing he must adjust and adjust quickly to challenges in season.
