While the talent of Porter is obvious.... to all those talking about giving him the keys to the franchise, consider that he isn’t even leading the Vipers to wins. Not even sure he is the best player on the Vipers.
Wins are irrelevant in the g-league. Teams have no chemistry. Squads are make shift squads and coaches concentrate on development rather than wins. He's easily the best player on the Vipers. It's obvious by the fact that the defenses are always hedging towards him.
Do we know what his mental health situation is? Was he just young, immature, and unprofessional? Or does he have actual issues that need treatment? Whenever his mental health situation is figured out, we should definitely try and bring him into the fold. We aren’t getting anything out of a lot of our reserves, give him a shot. But if they still feel they need time to mold him or whatever, I understand.
Don't forget that NBA defenders are generally a combination of better, smarter, quicker and more athletic.
Of course but I'm merely suggesting that NBA defenses aren't going to hone in on him like he's James Harden on the court.
The G League is garbage, a bunch of selfish play with no defense. Hartenstein dominated there by simply hustling.... DD
